What if she was at the title douluo level herself tho? even if she was similar to Xiao Wu i don’t see how Tang Hao could beat back spirit hall by himself. If however he had a douluo/title douluo control spirit master assisting him? it would be achievable.
We currently just don’t know much about the mother other than her spirt was blue silver grass, there was no mention of what level. The father seems to have moved to Holy Spirt Village after Tang San’s birth, as such the mother could have come from anywhere, and could have been anyone. We know the father had something the Spirt Hall wanted and pursued him for it, but about 15 years ago they stopped for no apparent reason. This again was about the time of Tang San’s birth. This is why I am guessing that what they pursued was the mother or some skill of hers and upon her death it no longer matter to pursue the father.
If Tang San’s mother is anything like Xiao Wu, even if she isn’t a Title Douluo, she may have connections with extremely powerful spirit beasts. Iirc, that beast that came looking for Xiao Wu was stronger than Title Douluos, right?
They said that she had the same river grass spirit that Tang San has. They’ve also said, almost constantly, that there hasn’t ever been another ‘useful’ silver grass spirit before.
So what about the following idea: the mother was like Xiao Wu and had a 100 000 year spirit beast as friend. So to show her how much he loved her Tang Hao tried to protect that spirit beast and Tang’s mom from Spirit Hall, but failed. And just when they were all about to get killed, the spirit beast let Tang Hao kill it, which would explain why now he is lvl 95 even though he did nothing but drinking since then, and has a red 100 000 year halo. And with the level-up + new ability + 100 000year spirit ring + spirit bone (just a reminder, if a spirit beast lets you kill it, you are 100% sure to get a spirit bone) he could have beaten Spirit Hall
1: He doesn’t have a 100k ring. It was a 90k+ ring that was close to the 100k. Which is why it was a black ring with a red line tinge through it.
2: Fatty sure didn’t get a spirit bone, and the scorpion was quite happy that he finally killed it.
3: Maybe I’m misremembering, but i think you actually have a higher chance of getting a spirit bone if the spirit fights you.

2: I’m pretty sure it was something along the lines: for a perfect absorption the spirit beast hast to have no regrets at all and give up its life out of its own free will….. and as for the scorpion, sure it was happy to have its suffering ended, but i’m quite sure it would have preferred to stay a live a bit.
3: as tasear already said, it’s the other way round: up to 50% increased chance if it really really hates you, but 100% chance if it gives its life to you
according to the manga Tang Hao’s last spirit ring is a red one, which means a 100k spirit beast. my conjecture is that just like the other milestones for sirit beasts after which they grow bigger or smaller the more powerfull they get, after reaching 100k they turn similar to a human. and that Tang san’s mother and xiao Wu are both like that. that would mean Tang Hao’s red spirit ring would be Tang san’s mother and it could also explain why xiao wu can summon spirit ring’s without killing monsters and is friends with a dangerous beast like a titan ape ( not sure if i remember the monsters name correctly).
Second hypothesis, the father left saying he was going after what was his. Maybe he obtain a really rare external spirt bone, and was chased due to this. Seems he even fought the pope and won at some time. Again maybe someone held the wife / mother hostage and he turned over the item to save her. Sorry my brain / imagination has a tendency to work overtime…

Yep just like bagelson said. It’s the difference between “Please, let me sacrifice my life to help you grow stronger” and “So much pain, someone end this suffering and kill me already”. In the first quote the spirit beast willingly gives it’s life to the person, while in the second quote the spirit beast is only glad that they don’t have to suffer anymore. I mean you can’t say the Earth King loved Fatty or anything.

Giving a sort of situation like Grandmaster and Erlong and can only spiritually be together in the end and not physically. How long that would last probably be as long as Grandmaster and Erlong.
Or at the very least they are cousin’s as well and their mom’s died during that situation.
I don’t think they are related, as it states they are only like 6 months age difference. It would take at least 10 after a birth to have another child, I know because my sister is 11 months my junior.
The cousin theory still is possible if Tang san’s mom and Xiao Wu’s mom are sisters or something like that. Knowing that tang Hao was protecting something from the spirit hall, and knowing that xiao wu is a “beast human” or something, i really feel like the author will link both facts (as always in light novels XD).

This is my top LN, but I read a lot of others. The only other one that is on par with this one, in my opinion, is Mother of Learning.
Other than that, I’d recommend (roughly in this order) Re:Monster, Mushoku Tensei, Law of the Devil, Coiling Dragon, Konjiki no Wordmaster, Stellar Transformations, Overlord, and Zhan Long.
The ones most similar to this are Stellar Transformations and Coiling Dragon.
Re:Monster and Overlord feature rather evil protagonists, so be warned. Law of the Devil does to a much smaller extent.
This LN is also one of my top LN.
My favorite is Mushoku Tensei: Likable, flesh out character( both main and supporting cast). Strong but still not Over power. Good use of foreshadow, and planing on the author part. Comedic, exciting, and heart wrenching at the same time.
Most the others make me lost interest after a while.
Re: Monster is just endlessly Power Up MC, without real plot or character dev. If you like fantasizing about superpower, and” everything-go-my-way lifestyle” then this is for you. Otherwise there are no struggle, no hardship, not a single thing compel the MC rather than “just because”.
Coiling Dragon has very interesting fighting chapters, keeps you on the edge of your seat. Struggle to become OP, then it reveal that there are even more OP stages all of the sudden. I mean, is there an end? Will there be dying? resurrection? planet destruction? your kid fight your fight? collecting 7 balls to save the world??? LOL ( I am looking at you Dragon Ball)
Overlord is interesting read a dark and graphic read,. The MC “unwillingly” become the “bad guy” in that world. Some scene I feel like there isn’t a need to be that gory, and I have problem decide that the MC is a good guy or a psychopath. But I guess it is the Novel’s charm.
Legendary Moonlight Sculptor: I drop a few hundred chapters in since there are no change in the character development/ motivation whatsoever. The scenario mostly just keep repeating itself.: consist of “being at the right place, right time” -> “work hard” -> “sculpt some artwork” -> “win new OP power” . RINSE and REPEAT. After waiting for far too long for the character to do, or even think differently, I just gave up.
“Ark” Plot line is almost identical to LMS, but with a little bit more likable characters.
P/S : SPOILER for Coiling Dragon:
I forgot that Coiling Dragon seem like a place for the author to diss his first love or sth. I mean Linley wasn’t get the relationship he deserved, but why is the author keep tormenting the poor girl.
Basically ruining her dignity, reputation, and her life , and “prove” that she is a dumb bit*h who dump the dazzling MC. While the MC get no emotion while seeing her like that.

thanks for translating this awesome novel, just wondering if we will seen an increase in translation pace anytime soon, i miss the day when u used to pump these out like chapter a day, hopefully u will have some time to spare for us poor souls soon, the wait is killing me 0.o, not complaining, i am happy just to see an update once a week aswell.
