  1. In fact, along with absorbing the ten thousand year level Man Faced Demon Spider as his fourth spirit ring.

Isn’t it supposed to be Pit Demon Spider?

    • Think its more that they are in the middle of an official competition and she’s just being stubborn rather than truly wishing him dead, Tang San is merciful to many people not just women, Tai Long is an example, along with many others its only when he feels threatened that he lashes out.

    • She attacked him trying to get a ‘win’, not to kill, so Tang San didn’t feel the need to fully retaliate.

Now if she went for Xiao Wu or actually had killing intent (Shi Nan), then RIP.

  2. I just wanted to leave an advice… please change the word consummate in the volume title because most people who understood the meaning will connect it to the marriage action stuff (Don’t wanna be too deep on that)… because of a certain bro I found out that the meaning of the consummate you’re pointing out is synonyms to skillful, practiced, polished, perfect and etc… but still I wanted to advice you to change the word because some people doesn’t even know what consummate is…

  3. Thank you, best part of this chapter was the end when he schooled Huo Wu with ease. What she needs is a further demonstration of his skills, not high end demonstration, but at least more power than he put into beating her just now so she will see that the power between them is a different as the earth and the stars.

shame about losing a perfect win streak 😦 though they are right in that you learn more from a loss than you do a win. “how could I have won?” “what if I did this instead at that moment?” “how about if I moderated my power better then?” et cetera

  8. Well, finally a team that can push tang san. Very good, a very good lesson for further advancement indeed. Thank you Bagelson for the update.

    • Well, even so they pretty much knew all his spirit abilities and went all out from the start, while Tang San knew basically nothing other than their element, AND he didn’t have all the Devils…He was heavily handicapped so they could kinda push him a bit, but not THAT much…Oh and they are all like at least 5 years older than him on average. Tang San is just too OP.

  9. Thanks for the translation.

I know this won’t turn into a harem… but I wish Huo Wu coulda joined… and blue water academy….

I don’t really understand why Tang stated his weakness and what not so easily… and even if he accepted it as a lose, he coulda still claimed official victory…. though he might not have wanted it to be a victory… still

The enemy used their full power and Shrek didn’t theirs… still kinda Shrek’s victory…

    I wonder when Tang gets a 100 thousand year ring…. it’d be a great 5th….

    • Remember that Tang only survived the 10 thousand ring because of yin yang well, and the burden on the body is exponential with the years its cultivated. If i remember correctly, you increase the ring age by about 10 thousand for every 10 level, so 10 thousand at 50, 20 thousand at 60 and so forth. He probably can handle up to 25-30 thousand at lvl 50, unless he has another power up, like another spirit bone.

  10. What’s Huo Wu’s spirit? I thought it was a fire shadow but in this chapter, it was stated that her spirit was a fire phoenix. Did I miss something in the previous chapters?

    • i thought huo wu did have a fire pheonix spirit, nothing seemed out of the ordinary to me when i read through it, perhaps she has the spirit that ma hongjun is variant from, since he has a variant fire pheonix.

Bagelson keep em coming buddy, if you ever want someone to proofread the chapters after you translate them I would be glad to do so for you. You don’t make many mistakes, but sometimes there are phrases or other little things. Love what you do, keep em coming, love the story and would be happy to improve the read for everyone’s sake.

      • dammit now I can’t stop wondering what you’re talking about 🙂 especially since all these physical changes occur when they absorb spirit rings I’ve always thought he might have a more drastical change at some point. Though looking at Tang San in the manhua I hope he won’t become a skinny little prettyboy (far too different from my impression of him in the LN)

  13. Maybe I misunderstood something, but doesn’t this mean that all the high-ranked spirit masters have seen the energy of Tang San’s spirit bone now? Didn’t he just give everything away? Also, many thanks for the chapter, the translation recently has been fabulous!

    • Remember that earlier Grandmaster said that because External Spirit Bone is so very rare (especially given the fact that it looks similar to what his Blue Silver Grass looks like in coloration) most will think that it’s a variation of blue silver grass, only the true big shots like Ning Fengzhi and maybe Salas realize that it’s actually a Spirit Bone.

      • I also got the impression the outside might have low visibility due to the ice storm and the spirit fusion ability letting out light.. I could’ve misinterpreted though.

    • I have to say, there are sooooo many more webnovels in Chinese, the ones being translated are just the tip of a ice berg. I was surprised at how soul land become popular since it wasn’t anything special to me when I first started it.. Just because of reading too many Chinese web novels

I’m trying to decide what language I should learn in college: Korean, Japanese, or Chinese. I probably will never go on to learning another after choosing one.
    1) If I would just want to read light novels (considering quality and quantity), which language do you think would be best?
    2) Which do you think would be best considering other factors? (excluding difficulty)

If you have a link that answers this comprehensibly that would be cool too.
BTW I’m really loving DD, keep up the nice work.

    • I’m a big fan of Japanese LNs. They all involve some kinda cheesy romance with shy and reserved male MCs (ewwww). I read them in search of someone who is actually strong and doesn’t go all red and start stuttering as soon as an attractive girl talks to them. Eg. Hagure Yuusha no Aesthetica.

Are you looking to translate or just learn to read at your own enjoyment?

I have read a few LNs from each language (translated). Zhan Long, BTTH, LMS, too many Japanese ones to list.

My impression on Korean novels are that they use more mature (as well as older) characters and are more “slice of life” so to speak. Enjoyable if you are not a fan of cheesy romance.

I only read martial arts related Chinese novels. They’re good fan to read and the action/battle scenes are quite vivid. Romance is not normally the main theme. Difficulty to learn would be max in contrast to the other two languages. But with some extra effort, you’d also be able to read Japanese novels written in kanji.

You would definitely get the most variety of genres from choosing to learn Japanese. All sorts of manga and LNs would be available to you.

Good luck with choosing. Try baka tsuki for some Japanese novels. Also I have not heard of too many Korean novels (could just be me) but there are plenty of Webtoons.

    • I started learning Chinese about 7 years ago. While I can’t give you concise answers with regards to material. I can speak about one of the things I consider fairly important

One of the biggest problems I have with Chinese is the sheer size of the vocabulary you would need to have (in short you will most likely be constantly using a dictionary). They have over 50,000 unique characters which can be combined into a whole multitude of ways. From that alone you can see the headache it can cause to someone who isn’t immersed in it all the time… compared to Japanese and Korean which have alphabets, it is far harder to read. If you’re considering learning these languages with the hopes of reading like you do in English, Chinese would be the last language I would recommend. If your considering after learning your first language to go learn the others. Chinese would then be my first suggestion. Learning Chinese first would give you the slowest reward in terms of being self-sufficient in reading these works but largest adaptability in learning the other languages.

If you want immediate gratification, learn Japanese or Korean. If you like anime, manga, etc… learn Japanese. If you like manhwa learn Korean… Iono… in the end its up to you… read a couple more works in each of the languages and find what you like best I guess… G.L.!

  17. ?you know what dosnt make any sense? when they were doing the spirit arena challenge, they fought the that first rhino and spider lady team in the beginning of the month, and right before they fought the lightning tyrant dragon team, they manager dude said that they beat a silver team, and that the silver team was the rhino and spider team…. does anyone else see the problem with that?

they were a bronze lvl team, and they cannot rank up until the end of the month, and yet in the beginning of the month they were bronze… but towards the end they ended up being silver?

    Like

    • read again then it will make sense -chapter 048- 🙂 they were promoted 1 day earlier from iron badge to silver because the spirit arena’s higher ups didn’t want them to lose anymore money because of the emperor team

      • I think he meant that the Mad Battle Team (rhino and spider team) fought with the Shrek Seven devils in the beginning of the month as a bronze level group. Yet the Mad Battle Team fought with the Emperor Team (the imperial academy team, who are supposed to be silver.

So, did the Mad battle team get a promotion before the end of the month too? Or why did they fight shrek as a bronze and then Emperor as a silver?

P.S. this is all from memory, so if I’m wrong somewhere, I’m sorry!

  19. I realize that some people have suggested explanations to this however I still wonder how none of the vips mentioned his spirit bone. Though I understand it was fogy with snow falling and all of that but still the author didn’t specifically say whether people from far away couldn’t see like he did with the match with that blue something academy.

Also I’m really mad at the fact that Tang San is saying that he got cocky considering that he went into that match without knowing anything about his opponents. And to top it off his opponents completely knew his abilities and had a counter plan from the beginning of the match. If anything I’d say it was his absolute win with those conditions. And even if he brought out a spirit bone he still withstood a spirit fusion, whose power is constantly shown as immense. Granted he was immune to it, but still some say luck is a skill. Anyway the only person I would blame for the final condition of the Shrek team would be grand master. First he teaches them not to underestimate their opponents and he was even the one who told Tang San not to underestimate blue silver grass, and I quote, “there are no trash spirits, only trash masters,” yet in the end he sends them in blind against a team that they knew was among the best in the tournament. And yes I understand people saying that it was to prepare their adaptability but again this was not one of the normal teams, it was a team they knew would be a threat and one freaking planned battle would not impede that. This just seems like an a$$ pull from the author in order to make Tang San more “humble” in a sense, which is a complete waste because considering his previous disposition he only managed to survive and achieve his current level due to never underestimating his opponents. And you know it is an a$$ pull when they received information regarding the Elephant and Blazing academy but not the Skywater one.
