  1. Shouldn’t that halo light ability have pushed as her even if she had use the invincible body ability. I mean it’s the same as HBO wu technique just if a different attribute. “But the most frightening aspect of Huo Wu’s Defying Flame Ring was that it ignored any abilities and defense, anything within its range could be temporarily banished.”

    Like

    • If you’ve read the manga, ‘golden’ is a level of defense that is basically impervious, like solid light. When in the Golden Triangle, Grandmaster and the others were invulnerable to the attacks of the Poison Duoluo completely, for example, despite the guy basically being able to bring down a mountain.
That’s what this is. It’s completely ignoring all spirit abilities with complete invulnerability, cancelling them out and leaving her unaffected.
Also, it’s third ring against fourth, if you’re keeping track. When they say ‘defense’, they’re basically talking about like the Flame Lord defense against blows, or ‘armor’. So even an armored person would be thrown back by the push, but this is a much higher level of protection.

      • I think the difference is that the ring ignores things like defense or blocking, but golden paragon body nullifies things altogether. It’s like the difference between hitting an armored person with a sword, and hitting an armored person with a sword that ignores armor. For the 2nd, the armor doesn’t even factor in.

  2. Thank you for the chapter 😄😄
But I’m pretty sure he hasn’t absorbed two man faced demon spiders, wasn’t the second one a different type and tang san and grandmaster had an argument over it?

  4. The below sentence is wrong, tang san never absorbed a second Man faced demon spider, he absorbed a different type of spider, unless something happened and he somehow absorbed a 3rd spider without taking it’s spirit ring.
“At the same time, Tang San’s Eight Spider Lances had thoroughly evolved after absorbing the second Man Faced Demon Spider. “

    Like

    • he had absorbed the spirit ring with the essence of one spider but he had absorbed only the essence another one after he had absorbed his fourth spiritring, in other words, he had absorbed the energy of two spiders and that is probably what is meant in this context ^^

      Like

    • His spiderlances absorbed the manfaced demon spider using the absorbing properties of the 8 spider lances. That was also when he learned that external spirit bones are ‘upgradable’ at the same time as a rank/spirit ring increase comes for the spirit master. Normally the accumulated ‘absorbed energy’ from the spiderlances would dissappear after a while, but when the conditions were met his external spirit bone absorbed the energy instead and upgraded

      • Do you mean that after he took the ring and evolved into Tang-faced spider-san, he journeyed to the yin-yang ice-fire pools of mordor to seek the miasma to block enemy attacks, then he absorbed the power of the pit spider, then… Oh right. He munched after thoroughly destroying the other man face spider. Remind me again of the order of events and how he leveled up? Thank you.

        • He killed the man-faced spider at level 40 using his legs, sucking out its power. The spirit bone upgraded at that time, becoming bigger and stronger.
Then he used them to haul the other spider into the Yin Yang pool for his black spirit ring, a separate event. The poison of the two types of spiders is still extant on the Eight Lances, however. However, its VERY potent on the Man-Faced side.
We shall see what he does at level 50!

          • Thanks, the only thing that seems slightly off now, is that the ice+fire poison is more… Well, apparently it’s super strong and I expect that Dugu wouldn’t mind the MFDS’s venom but Tang-san’s in a whole other league.

            Like

            • That is correct, he’s got some hideously powerful venom. Remember, he used it to take down a level 58 Strength based character, so it is fearfully potent if he can get it into someone’s system. Someone of higher level can probably just force it out before it does anything, but simply overcoming it by resistance/ignoring it isn’t going to work for anyone. Thus, it’s another control device, forcing the opponent to spend time and effort expelling the poison quickly, and not attacking or doing other stuff while doing so.
The poison administered by his lesser abilities isn’t as strong as that by his legs, but is still the same type, just less potent and easier to deal with. A good defense (read, ‘natural armor’) can still basically block it from getting into the system at all, which is much harder to do against the lances.

              • This makes me think Tang san is going to eventually accidentally use Yama invitation and gain it as his poison.

For his Parasite, I expected it to be able to be used on allies, so he could use the grass to manoeuvre them :/ Or at least something similar to his fourth ability, instant use when he wants in a certain area. Instead of jumping off a building, hoping to catch the sword before it slices Mubis head off.

            • I’d personally throw up an instant Binding wall to intercept the blade, but let us wait til next chapter.
It would be even more fun if Zhu intercepted and caught it, wouldn’t it?

              Like

              • He said before that he couldn’t use his abilities to stop the guy, because the blades were too think. Judging by the speed, tang san might not be able to intercept the blade in time. The best bet would be to use is fourth ability, if possible, to move Mubi.

As for Zhu, way to bring up a death flag!

                Like

    • You’re interpreting the line incorrectly. When it says Tang San’s spirit bone evolved after absorbing the second Man Face Demon Spider, it’s not saying that the spirit boned absorbed two Man Faced Demon Spiders. It’s saying it absorbed the SECOND Man Faced Demon Spider. We know this second MFDS to be the 6000 year one. The first was of course the 2000 year one where he got the spirit bone from.

So yes, you’re correct when you say Tang San never absorbed *a* second MFDS. But the line in question doesn’t say *a*, it says *the* and Tang San did indeed absorb THE second MFDS. Hope that clarifies that for you.

  6. Man. This chapter just talked in circles and dragged on T-T these cliffhangers aren’t good for my soul. Instead of focusing on the battle between stand and the charm demon that just hit climax, the sly author chose to go through everyone else and the come back for a recap of what was explained in part 1 basically 😦 hate when the chaps are like this. Purposefully drawn out.

    • Do you think that is easy to do? In a short amount of time using 2 spirit abilities while facing another enemy with ability equal to the 60th rank?

And it wasn’t the wrong spider.

      • Huh, didn’t he choose the pit spider for the fourth ability, which gave him a black ring instead of the younger, second, man faced spider?

        • Still not as easy to do. The attack was already there, Tang San didn’t have time to intercept, especially when already fighting a powerful enemy. If he was able to, he would have done it.

And the author wasn’t talking about Tang San’s 4th spirit ring, he was talking about Tang San’s spirit bone, which absorbed the energy from a 6000 year old man-faced spider. It was AFTER he absorbed the power of the spider that he took the 10,000 year old spider and got it’s Spirit Ring.

Ah, I just finished asking the other person about this. Now I’m confused as to why the flower was left out. Ah. It’s because Tang-san ran after the pit-spider.

            I really need a refresher on the order of events. DMR so kind ;~;

            • Parasite is a restraining ability that is mixed with poison.

Basically, he plants the seeds on the body of the other person, then can instantly grow them, wrapping them up in terrifically strong thorned Grass that also envenoms them at the same time. Less useful against powerful opponents, but it will still slow them down for a few seconds, which is basically what he uses it for in this fight. IT takes very little power and so is perfect for disrupting an attack routine, or incapacitating an agility combatant and forcing them to waste time to rip/claw their way free.

            • im not sure about this but i think parasite has some control over the target as well. i remember yu tian kid from blue tyrant getting in front of the tortoise guys from emperor team in the first arena. but i cant recall if it was binding that pulled him in or if it was parasite only doing the walking for him.

              Like

            • Tang san can activate parasite after binding if somehow the latter penetrated the skin via its thorns and able to implant seeds within penetrated skin.

              Like

    • Well it is possible. But Tang san was trying to conserve his strength to stall some time until the enemy duo exhausted their spirit power. Things will be bad if tang san wore out before the enemy does.

    • It would be funny if they did, but I’m guessing/hoping Tang San used his Blue Silver Grass Prison to shield Dai Mubai. Even though it can be easily destroyed by the moon blades, it can still reduce the impact, especially if he added more layers.

  7. First time commenting. This is just so awesome series that I had to.

Thanks for the chapter bagelson! Awesome work as always.

I can’t wait release of next chapter.

“Using enemies abilities against them.” Correct me if I’m wrong but haven’t Tang San used this kind of method before? Also now it only lasted for a short while. And Xie Yue is already doing plan B (no.. wait. A. was spirit fusion that backfired (kinda), plan B was deal with other Shreks in that red screen which was countered by Tang San throwing them out -> Plan C expand fusion area -> flying -> plan D deal with Tang San -> spired lances…) Attacking Dai Mubai is plan E. (Or 4th change in tactics if I didn’t forget any event)

About manhua. Personally I’m kinda between liking and hating that version of Douluo Dalu. It started good, then started become bad at time Shrek arrived Heaven Dou Empire and now the last few chapters have been better again. Most what I hate is how manhua changed some names at mid point. I’m curious to see where the story goes now on and of course differences to LN (note. I haven’t read any spoiler or do not want to. I patienly wait this translation).

    • The plan is working fine.
The plan is to have 2 level 50’s trying to beat one shrek…Tang San.

That leaves Six devils vs 5 goldens.
So, two Devils against the flame lord, leaving 4 on 4. Except it’s now 4 on 3. And even the Flame Lord can’t prevail against the Hell White Tiger without an ace up his sleeve if they bring it out.
The rest of the devils are cleaning up the other goldens while the ‘aces’ all battle it out with one another. Shrek is busy not rolling over to their more powerful opponents, only they haven’t quite figured out how yet because Tang San has trumped their Spirit Fusion.
They were relying on power and are getting beat with superior tactics.

      • Among the 5 enemies of the other devils, only Yan is a member of the “golden generation”, right? Isn’t it a title only given to those three who reached rank 50?

        Like

        • That’s correct, the three level 50’s are the Goldens who are supposed to automatically win the fight. The level 45+’s behind them are strong, but are so used to being nothing but support and overshadowed they don’t have any particular combat effectiveness or tactics prepared.

basically it’s teamwork against levels, and teamwork is winning.

But I did say Sorry for being that Guy. I know I am being rude but had to vent a bit of anger to be able to continue to tolerate some comments. It takes around 1000 or so comments for the anger to build-up. So as I said happens.

    • Tang san absorbed the first man-faced demon spider as his third spirit ring and at the same time obtained the 8 spider lances. Then, Tang san absorbed the second MF demon spider using drain via the 8 lances. Afterwards, he absorbed the pit demon spider as his fourth spirit ring. Hope this helps. 😄

  11. Say, if Spirit Hall don’t want to kill Tang San that much and focus on wining the match only.
If Charm Demon stop releasing fog and fight plainly with their teammates, can 7 freaks won?
Cos now two lv 50 were wasting their power on useless fog thank to Tang San’s sharingan eyes, he’s now immune to mental attack and fog can’t block his vision at all, so their 2 best players can only utilize around half it max power.

    Like

    • No.
Basically, if the twins break their spirit fusion, their spirit power will be completely spent and they’ll be useless. In other words, once they fuse, they are stuck together and only able to do what they are doing now, just like Mubai and Zhu when they break out of Hell White Tiger. In the past, that’s been fine…they’ve won all their fights simply with this Spirit Fusion.
That’s what they were talking about ‘riding the tiger’ and being unable to get off halfway. Yes, it would be to their advantage if they could break off…but they can’t get off the tiger, they have to keep riding it. Even if it’s not the best thing they can do, it’s the ONLY thing they can do at this point.

Tang San’s tactic is to keep them occupied. That makes it six Shrek Devils against 5 of the opponents. So, Mubai and Zhu keep the Flame Lord occupied, and the others take out the rest of the Spirit Hall team.

It is pure tactical maneuvering. Tang San and Grandmaster have completely neutralized the level advantage of the enemy, and the Seven Devils are now cleaning up the chaff so they can gang up on the remainder. The enemy has once again underestimated the importance of tactics in this match up, and the skill and importance of the other Devils.

We’ll see how they deal with the thrown blade…next chapter!

      • I didn’t say to break Spirit Fusion, but just stop spending energy on useless fog and join dogs fight with their teammates.

Because I believe one of the reason they use Charm Demon is to rely on the fog to block audience’s view and kill Tang San in the fog.
Cos they won’t want to show the world that they intentionally land a killing blow on Tang San when he lost to CD.
Normally, people would surrender or lost conscious, right?
And the righteous Spirit Hall couldn’t (or wouldn’t ) kill contestant off like that.
So the fog serve as a hindrance to Tang San(which turn out useless in front of Tang San OPness) and to block killing scene from audience.

So if they stop spending spirit power to up hold the fog and fight normally(which still as powerful as lv 60 sth) with his 5 teammates against 7 freaks.
Of course, it probably not as good as not using Spirit Fusion at all but, would Shrek still have chance to win?

        Like

        • they continue to use the fog because it decreases speed and strength as well as making it hard to see, Tang San can cancel out the vision problem with his demon eye, but the decrease to his physical ability remains. you may say that in the chapter it said that the eight spider lances canceled out the decrease of physical abilities, but the spider lances increase his strength, so if the fog wasn’t there he would probably be kicking the Charm Demon’s ass. the fog also lets them have some control over where the other members of the teams can be, so they’re probably using that as their control system since they don’t have one on their team.

          Like

          • Keeping the fog up takes very little power, and is literally the only thing they can spend spirit power on, so why not keep it up? If they didn’t, then Tang San would actually be even better off against them…AND they’d be vulnerable to ranged attacks from his friends, Ninroong could buff up Tang San, etc. In short, as long as the fog doesn’t cover their allies, they are always better keeping it up then letting it go (gotta use that spirit power for SOMETHING), because it stops the Devils from helping Tang, at the very least.

Also, if it was down, it would be very hard to sneak attack Dai Mubai like that, wouldn’t it?
