  1. LOVING THIS , Yes gore , darkness , no kiddy shit like the manhua ! Hype for him to kill more people and get stronger !! Such a badass mc who isn’t afraid of actually killing people !

      • Just tang san and that spirit hall girl in a wired place and they help each other no killing not even other humans really boring stuff

        Like

      • The manhua is less detailed than the novel and they also change the story a bit by adding things that aren’t in the novel, like title douluo’s have eternal youth, Oscar’s spirit is tofu instead of sausage, fatty eats food to satiate his evil fire, and etc. The manhua also leads away from killing, changing the parts of the story where people died to just be injured, not brutal or gory.

      • Deviating from the story by pretty much making it E rated ,which in reality from this chapter alone should be at least 13+ , But who gives a shit this is EPIC !

      • They also change events to be even more outragously unlikely so they don’t have to use as many frames and the setting is changed to be more western fantasy like.

        • They also make any changes to the main characters so they are not very strong any more and make their enemies very op. Example in the battle aganist spirit hall, novel only tang san aganst two people spirit fusion, manuha all of them with out doing any real damage.

    • Idk the manhua had them both end up getting it , but I REALLLY hope that doesn’t happen I want to read about Pontiffs face being full of rage that some guy just killed her disciple

      Like

      • I honestly hope he doesn’t kill her in the arena since if he doesn’t a lot more arcs and places for the story to deviate remain possible and likely.

        Like

        • That may be so but considering the fact that he clearly stated that he hates Spirit Hall and she was and still is trying to kill him…at this moment I cannot figure out any possible reason for him to keep her alive. If they do end up fighting in the hundreth match, I get the feeling that someone is going to forcibly intervene. There is no way Bibi Dong is allowing her to get killed. We all know Tang San is much stronger (when not in a fusion) than her so there is no way ( or shouldn’t) it will be the opposite. So it’s not a matter of not killing her, but rather can’t kill her. But if he does, though it will halt any potential to development where the both of them are concerned he would become the ultimate enemy of Spirit Hall where before he was just a ‘threat’. Alot of character building can still arise from this. I don’t know. Just my two cents.

      • Even if the manhua change things they usually keep the overall plot the same (because thinking up new plot after the branching will be a pain)

If she survives there she’ll most likely survives here.

The only exception would be one-off characters where whether they live or die doesn’t matter in the plot since they won’t ever re-appear, but this girl is already a major character (future pontiff) so her fate is a huge deal.

        • right, plus although Slaughter City might like to see her and Tang San fight, plus the 3rd guy that has as many wins as they do, she could simply avoid the arena if she felt she truly couldnt win, she already has the qualifications to stay there for a year without fighting so the smartest thing to do would simply be to wait for Tang San to hit 100 wins or die then go back to fighting in the arena. That probaby won’t happen since that’s not have stories like this work but it would be the smartest

  4. Yay! Bagelson, you didn’t betray my expectations today. I just realized that this week when there has been daily updates I have been reading them as bedtime stories.

Chapter 136 out of 336 so if daily updates continues this series is going to end within a year. (*gasp*)

Anyway. Thanks for the update as always!

  5. Thanks for the chapter Bagelson! GL with your RL stuff, take your time, we’ll be here when you get back (^^,)

Thank goodness Hu Liena didn’t recognise Tang San, considering we still don’t know who the Powers That Be are (possibly Spirit Hall associates) it would be dangerous if they knew he was there

    • “Powers That Be ” – What is that? What are you saying, can’t understand.

PS: If you are saying the Top of Slaughter City are related to Spirit Hall, then I highly doubt it. Also even if someone else from Spirit Hall was here and even be at the Top, I doubt he could do squat about it.

      • spirit hall has the most and the most powerful spirit masters, it’s been trying to expand it’s influence for years and it’s been suggested that they benefit from the existence of slaughter city, i don’t think it’s at all impossible for slaughter city to have some links to spirit hall,

like but not necessarily spirit hall has recruited some of those who escape the city or placed their own spirit masters in senior positions to control the criminals and scout talent

not saying it’s certain at all, but i think it’s not unlikely

        Like

      • It would be extremely unlikely for this place to exist without Spirit Hall’s backing, and approval of sorts. There WILL be high level contact…this is a place where high level spirit masters are, including at least one title duoluo, after all. And highly unlikely that for the truly powerful, there aren’t alternative ways in and out of the city.
The rule of the city is just nothing compared to SPirit Hall. If they make a demand, he will comply. Whether that will come up in the LN here, is completely a separate subject.

        • Lol, amazing how I said similar things regarding the difference in power between Slaughter City and Spirit Hall and had tons of people arguing against me, then in this chapter Tang San basically expresses the same thoughts I had, against the true power of Spirit Hall Slaughter city is nothing

          Like

          • Well, when you eat 90%+ of your population per year, you aren’t going to become anything resembling a power.
Do the math. Every year, the entire population of the inner city has to enter a death match. 9 out of 10 people die. So, if there’s a million people, 900,000 of them die.
Every year. From a military standpoint, that’s totally unsustainable. You CANNOT do that to your fighting people.
Which means to have a stable population, you would need 900,000 NEW people every year.
Just imagine what that would be like. A 30 person classroom, every year 27 of your classmates die. Plus maybe one or two from being killed outside the arena in addition.
The next year, you’re back to 30 students from…somewhere. And 28-29 of them die again.
            Every year.
Completely impossible unless they city is being flooded at all times with newcomers. By the dozens per day. Every slaughter fight requires 9 new bodies just to keep the same city population, and the city is not small, with tons of people.
Where are they all coming from?
I realize it’s a literary device and you’re not supposed to look at the math. Because it would literally take the entire nation of China to supply enough people to kill off a large city each and every year, and then repopulate it like nothing has happened.
The horror of this place isn’t that Tang San has had to kill a thousand people. It’s that he’s killed a thousand people, and the city took it right in stride. Because if he hadn’t killed them, they would have died, anyways. He didn’t accelerate the killing pace at ALL, assuming the majority of people there are just doing their 1/year survivor fights.
And what are they doing with all the bodies? Turning them into food?
For every death match, another 9 people have to come to the city, marching up to be killed. A continuous march of people coming up to be massacred, every single day.
            Slaughter City is right.

            Like

            • Yeah, the author really lacks some basic knowledge on how populations work. Also the whole daily spirit master arenas is a joke. With how few there are of spirit masters out there and how there’s more than a couple arenas active… you wouldn’t be able to sustain daily match ups to any fair degree.

So a new girl will fall for Tang San now? Considering how much focus she is getting, I’m gonna doubt Tang San will actually kill her…. though he should…

    Like

      • based on the manhwa, he probably doesn’t kill her… even if she’s an enemy, she’s not evil which is different from the other people in this place… Tang San hasn’t killed a none evil person before…

          • Oh, right, those people weren’t evil, were they… that said, it was a kill or be killed position… he couldn’t offer mercy and afterwards had to deal with title douluo and then had lots of other info thrown at him….

But this time, he’s actually knowing this isn’t an evil person and will probably have a chance to spare her…

            • This is slaughter city … they BOTH have like 70ish matches won and that alone is like 700 kills in the arena … not to mention the kills outside the arena, so please explain how they should be considered “good” people ? I doubt that you could say a person is good if they have killed over a thousand people lol 😀

              Like

              • Well, even if they killed people, they killed people in a place where they were supposed to kill people, and these weren’t the most decent humans either.

Killing in war isn’t evil. Considering what kinda world they are all in, it is like there is a constant mini-war between the powers, clans, and individuals….

And the city itself is like a anarchy based war where each person is their own side. A place where a person has no choice but to kill if they want to survive.

Killing itself doesn’t constitute as evil. It’s also the reason and situation that need to be included.

  10. So…I was wrong about the veiled woman…..oh well.
For those that are comparing the web novel and the manhua, it’s not that the people making the manhua skipped the Slaughter City arc because they were lazy, or because it’s a crappy job. It’s because the manhua’s KID FRIENDLY. You really can’t replace the city and events that happen inside like they did with Oscar’s sausages or Fatty’s lust, so they HAVE to skip everything that happens there.

    • I still do not get the “KID FRIENDLY”. In what way? Yes Violence is adult thing but Manhua are clearly not meant for Kids. Kids means age 5 to 10, 12 at most.

In Manhua they do show flirting, people killing animals (spirit beast). Tang San Killed the illusion Spirit Master. In what way is Manhua KID FRIENDLY.

Do they even sell Manhua to KIDS in China? The WN is much more easily accessible than Manhua. Probably hard to read for Kids (But I don’t know, Chinese Children are Study Monster, they should be able to read).

Am I missing some Chinese Propaganda meant for KIDS in China.

PS: I am in no way saying KID can’t Handle Violence. In My country I read enough Comics which had violence (not too much violence) when I was 8-9. I just do not understand where this “KID FRIENDLY” label is coming from. I heard it a lot on Manga site about DD Manhua and now here you are, justifying the Manhua.

      Liked by 1 person

      • They went out of their way to portray the Illusion Master as a mass murderer of young geniuses, forcing them to commit suicide…and only if they were not affiliated with Spirit Hall. A manipulative, deranged and sadistic murderer of children.
In the LN here, he only went after Tang San.
And that manwha was more a duel fought and the bad guy lost.
So, they made him a truly vile and contemptible person who got what was coming to him.

Compare to the Level Breaking Arena fight, a team full of people who wanted to cripple and kill their opponents, at heart even worse then the illusion master. Oh, no, they were just ‘stunned’ instead of slaughtered outright. It wasn’t duel in the LN…the Seven Devils literally butchered the enemy straight off. So their teachers could go and make a ton of money gambling on them, no less.
The moral lesson was also completely different – don’t kill the enemy and show honor, vs introducing them to killing in a controlled situation.

The manwha is definitely kid-friendly. The LN is MUCH more mature, especially this episode.

        • What the F is KID-FRIENDLY? That is my whole question. How do you define it. Don’t justify murder to me. Are you being naive or is it double standard?

Stop using this Term. It is a retard Excuse. Manhua is either Crappy Work or Lazy Work. It is either of those two nothing else is justifiable.

          Like

          • I agree that the Manhua is either Crappy Work or Lazy work but it is also extremely kid friendly. What he meant with kid friendly was that in the Manhua they literlally make/cut any deep/overcomplicated story part alot more simplistic! If the LN is Seinen than the Manhua is shounen ,i remember they added all that star lao empire Tiger Sage thing in between tournament just to give some shounen like power ups or turned that Blue silver grass king into a little cute girl… lmao!

            Like

            • I was waiting for someone to say shounen. Shounen is not for KIDS. It is for people aged at least 11-12. Actually for Teens.

My whole point is stop using KID-FRIENDLY term totally. I understand what people want to say but say things properly, don’t use terms which are wrong and justify. Do try to understand what I am trying to rely to people.

              Like

              • where do you get that definition of shounen ? >.>
Shounen means boy under 14-15, there are shounen mangas for kids 5 to 10 too…
By the content of the manga, it’s made for kids around 10yo while the LN is obviously for more mature readers. And last time i checked 10-11 or 12 is still a kid…
So yeah changing the content of the story to make it acceptable for kids to read, i don’t see why omg kid-friendly is such an awfully wrong term to use

                Like

                • I know what Shounen means. What I am talking about what Shounen Manga and Manhua and Manhua are for. I never said 10-12 are not Kids. Please look at all my comments.

I don’t understand why is it so difficult to make people understand why KID-FRIENDLY is not equal to Shounen.

KID-FRIENDLY clearly means you try to hide all violence, bad stuff of society from Children.

PS: Who said there is no Shounen Manga for Children (age 5-10). There is but it definitely is not DD.

PS2: Shounen is to indicate you are not a adult yet. In Japan people can be considered adult around 15-16 or so. It is a very wide term.

PS3: Don’t be convinced by watching children shown Reading Manga in Anime or Manga. Those Manga are easier to read (lacks as much Kanji as possible), full of mickey mouse, sponge bob character. They are just kiddy picture books.

PS4: DD (WN or Manhua) is meant not for children no matter what you argue, so calling it something like KID-FRIENDLY is pointless.

PS5: I really hope you get all this. This is Last time, won’t come back to explain more. I don’t know how me telling people to stop using KID-FIRNDLY for DD can’t get through people minds.

                  • For the record your response makes it sound like either you are a kid or you never watched cartoons as one… Before roughly 2k5 Cartoons were not violence free and hahaha… Your average cartoon aimed at 8-12 year olds had violence tags that could be applied to modern 15-17 year old cartoons… Prior to the “comedy boom” most cartoons were aimed at teaching lessons in a largely shounen-esque way, and depicted large quantities of violence(Woody the Woodpecker was actually cancelled due to violence and racism, while Sesame Street was cancelled due to “homosexual suggestions”)… While from a modern point of view especially one from North America(Although on the term of violence I believe America in general would fit) may find it mature, I am rather certain that most people in Asia at the least would find your assertions rather comical simply based on the targeted age ranges of many shounen works… Finally, Kid-friendly refers to anyone aged under 16, at which point they enter the “Young Adult” group in NA and 15 in the rest of the world

            • KID friendly doesn’t including fighting….. the manhua is not for kid…. because it still violence even if the level of violence is limited….. the manhua is the worst i have seen currently….

              Like

      • I don’t think the question is whether kids can handle violence but whether they should have to. I simply don’t think that it is healthy for the psyche of children to be shown violence. I also don’t approve of showing violence in a comical way in media targeted at children. Especially because young children might not understand that real people wont just get up and laugh after you blew them up. As for non-comical violence in media targeted at children: I consider it extremely irresponsible to unnecessarily expose children to violence. I’m not saying one should pretend it doesn’t exist, but it shouldn’t become part of everyday life.

By the way, what has flirting to do with being “kid-friendly”? In which way would it be harmful for a child to witness flirting or kissing (I’m not talking about anything going farther than that)?

PS: I am not defending the manhua. In my opinion, when adapting a story to a different medium, one should try to stay true to the original story and, therefore, also the original target audience. And if that target audience isn’t children then trying to force the story to be accessible to them is violating the story. That’s just my opinion, thought.

And as for manhua/manga nor being meant for kids: It depends on the manhua/manga. Some definitly have a very young target audience.

        • It’s possible that Bagelson (the translator) is the one dividing the chapters like this, and there actually are only 24 volumes, as you say. Don’t quote me on that, though, i have no idea if that’s true or not.

          • No if u goto the actual chinese sight, its split the same way. The only difference is bagelson puts the 3 parts of each chapter together. And the chinese one doesnt so the original is actually longer

  29. when is there a new chapter? just an expectation, not wanting to bother the translator with more work, just curious so I stop coming here 4-5 times per day.

    • I think you need to work really hard on your grammar structure, both English and Indonesian.
I don’t wanna be rude, but the translation on that chapter is a mess, seems like something out of google translate. So yeah, if you want to be writer, a lot of work.

PS. It’s guidance not guidence, I’m not im, “a newbie writer and i wanna” not “newbie writer wanna”, don’t not dont.

    • Just shut up , the amount he translates is already a lot , and the manhua literally puts in like 10% of the words that are really supposed to be there. These chapters are at least 3 chapters of any other novel being translated , so its fair for it to be a couple days a chapter .

      • If that happened it would be very grey legally…taking money for translating someone else copyrighted works without authorization. As it is there is still a possibility of legal action if the original author of this xianxia novel gets pissy.

Instead of that just use Paypal. Make a “tip jar” using Paypal button.

  31. Chapter 137, did some editing on google translate.

Any person who killed, everyday killing would end up going insane. Especially men.
Under this enormous pressure everyone needs to cooldown. Tang san was gone.

After the fight he would return to his cottage to cultivate.
Only time he was outside was when he was at Hell slaughter arena.

Hu Lena don’t know what the King of Hell wants.
But she had never met the murderous Tang San.

As early as when Tang San reached 20 victories,
Hu Lena was certain this man and herself had the same goal.
She had avoided Tang San in order to both achieve their goal.

Previously, she always felt that her brother is the best
a man can be in all of the spirit world.
After the Continental Advanced Spirit Master Academy Elite Tournament,
although she would not admit it Tang San had also entered her heart.

This man infront of her is the third and also considered the most outstanding one.
He is more powerful than all, got handsome looks and a dark temptation in his determination.
These traits made him deeply attractive for Hu Lena.

For a woman to fall in love with a man there was a lot of reasons.
Hu Lena knows that she likes the man.

Except the interaction they had the first day when he came here once and said something,
    they had no communication.

But she was entirely sure, her heart belonged to him and could not tolerate anyone else.

    • Hu Lena deeply sigh. Unfortunately he is a descendent of clear sky hammer. Coming from Spirit Hall, how could Hu Lena not recognise the clear sky hammer on Tang San’s hand? She depressedly thought, why are all the outstanding males from the clear sky clan?

      • Just as Hu Lena was in deep thought, in the ring Tang San made his move. Nine people from nine different direction moved towards Tang San. However Tang San’s concentration was not affected. His body giving off illusions, Tang San in an instant reached in front of one of his opponent who was trembling. In the next moment, Tang San stabbed him in the neck with a metal blade. Body spinning, legs kicking, hands flying about, countless bright lights came out from Tang San’s hand. Those are metal needles. A ear piercing noise broke the silence. Miserable screams start to appear. Only three people were able to survive Tang San’s hidden weapon attack. They survive not because they could dodge Tang San’s hidden weapons.

    • I caught up with the manhwa because I wanted to know what happens next. I really hated it. It felt like eating a horrible tasting food while watching a movie. You only eat it because some sicko decides to pause the movie unless you continue eating. I really regret catching up with the manhwa. I’m just glad that the novel took a much different approach. The novel goes into much better depth than the manhwa making it seem more reasonable and palatable.

All in all, I look very much forward to the novel as opposed to continue reading the manhwa.

……………. who am I kidding? I’ll probably eat that disgusting food while waiting anyway.

  33. I feel like the crackhead from the Chappelle Show… ‘Aye Bagelson my main man, you got the stuff right… cmon maaaaan I need my fix maannn’ that being said I didn’t realise that each chapter ie parts 1, 2 and 3 is between 12 to 15 pages. Mate I wrote essays at uni that were shorter than that!!! Take your time Bagelson, we will wait… no pressure 😁

  34. Why cant I access the raw chapters? Is it blocked or something I wanna use google translate too. Withdrawal symptoms arent easy to deal with, I can understand now the feeling that the cigarette smokers and drug abusers deal with when they start quitting their daily dose of vice 😦

        • I’d recommend rereading all of it or read another series while you wait. It helps fight the withdrawal symptoms that start to appear. Of course it is hard to find another series that is as entertaining but still worth trying.
