  1. That was a little quick. That one chapter that took about about days to translate and then post must have been a difficult chapter of you were working on multiple chapters at once. I think it is the former.

    • Nah he said after posting 138 he was gonna be too busy to work on translating and it would take awhile, that’s why 139 took longer then usual to post.

    • I think it’s more a matter of how much time he has and wants to devote to translating. There have been stretches when he did one chapter a day.

Either way, still going strong! Thanks for all the hard work, Bagelson.

And yes, he had Xiao Wu. He does not need another girl.

    • OMG Thank you !!!!!!

This has become one of my favorite moment in the story: the explination of his choice of what to do with that girl.

Im not saying much more because I dont wanna give spoilers but I think its because of how Hu Liena reacted.

Im not saying Tang San explination or choice was the best. But I truly understand his judgement toward Hu Liena.

          4. It is true that she has not done anything against him except trying to cripple him/take his life during the tournament, and she also hasnt done anything for him aside from the negligible info he gained. He in turn healed her of the poison and gave her info. (Why is her Info negligible: because it wouldnt have influenced his decision of going down Hell Road (he is to cauteous for that), nor was it new to him, except that he didnt know about the domain he would aquire)

  9. Considering the stimulation that she has created out of Tang San (since he was hard during the entire Hell road), I was honestly surprised that he had the willpower to not give in and make love to her during the Hell road. Although they are on two sides hostile to each other doesn’t mean they can’t have a bit of spicy romance.
Honestly I would have a hard time not being aroused by a beautiful woman even if she is trying to kill me… Especially if she is trying to kill me.

  12. Damn, why all the hate over Hu Leina? Most people want her dead; some want her to be a concubine; and some want Tang San to rape her…you all have problems! It’s not like she’s been purposely trying to get him to cheat on Xiao Wu; she doesn’t even know he’s Tang San! She only tried to kill him at the tournament because her master told her to; something the Shrek Seven Devils did earlier in the story at Grandmasters request. She’s not even really trying to seduce or manipulate Tang San into a relationship (all the stripping and touching were for very good and practical reasons); which means she actually cares for him and wants him to choose for himself who he loves.

All in all, she’s one of the most likeable characters I’ve seen.

    • A few reasons I do not like her

      1. She is an enemy
      2. Tang San can clear the Hell Road easier without her. In this chapter she proved to be more of a hindrance than a help. Frankly I don’t see any reason for the author to put her in this arc
      3. The one she has a crush on is Tang Yin, not Tang San. She never knows Tang San for who he is. Not to mention she has a crush on him firstly is because he is handsome.
      4. She is 5 years older than him, yet still trying to seduce him
      5. I am always a Tang San x Xiao Wu fan. I hate anyone to cause harm to their relationship. Harem is a no no for me

      • Responding to all five points.

Firstly, why is she an enemy? She’s kind of like Hu Wuo overall, bitter about her loss and wanting to get back over the bitterness over it. If she weren’t a part of Spirit Hall then the chances are that she’d push a fair contest and fight for supremacy. If you haven’t noticed… This thirst is actually one shown by every significant character in this series, mainly on account of the fact that the majority of them aren’t even 20. This includes every member of Shrek’s seven devils. Tang Huo is literally the only one I’ve seen with a genuinely good reason, HIS WIFE WAS KILLED FOR GOD SAKE of COURSE he’s going to be mad. On the other hand Hu Liena is simply fighting to overcome a strong opponent and only has intentions to actually cause him harm because she was told to, something her monologue has expressed regret over several times.

Secondly she has kind of helped several times so far. She managed to keep the path ahead from disintegrating however your point… Is valid there. She has killed 700 men in the spirit arena and likely many thousands more outside of it… Why on Earth aren’t any of the skills which would be involved with having such a massive amount of combat experience shown here? This isn’t even something which has made me dislike the character just the author.

Thirdly, she gained a crush on him due to purity. She’s in an environment where everyone is taking advantage of each other for their own possible gain and thus was drawn to the only one who didn’t seem to be tainted by it. Yes it would be a lot nicer if the two had conversed far more but as far as reasons go I’ve seen worse in manga.

Fourthly… There are two things. He’s over 40 years old mentally and succumbing to the seduction of a nineteen year old girl. Secondly, age has been noted to be something which isn’t overtly clear amongst spirit masters. Due to the effects spirit rings and such have on the body, I’m supposing that amongst the effects one becomes taller, more muscular, better defined and generally shows many of the attributes associated with both maturing and growing physically stronger, most people can’t tell the actual age of people. As such… I can’t say there’s any real immorality there as she genuinely doesn’t know his actual age, just what he looks like and to some degree that he’s smarter and wiser than many would consider themselves to be.

Fifthly, I… Am torn on that. Xiao Wu is awesome yes but I don’t think she pairs too well with Tang San as he is. Looking at him an Hu Liena they actually have quite a bit in common and think along similar mental paths whereas Xaio Wu is kind of rash, hot headed and aggressive. Comparing the two as combinations… I actually think that if Hu Liena were removed from Spirit Hall she’d be a lot better partner for Tang San than Xaio Wu. Capable of being both passionate and yet detached is kind of a trait they share

        • 1. She is from Spirit Hall. Spirit Hall kills his mother. Making him and Xiao Wu separated. Isn’t that enough to consider her his enemy? Hu Liena has a crush on Tang Yin, but consider Tang San her enemy.

          2. Carrying her, he need to hide his identity. He cannot use his blue silver grass & spider lance. Now with her in this condition, it will be a burden for him. It would be easier for him to do it alone.

          3. It does not change the fact that she had a crush on Tang Yin, not Tang San. And due to his appearance. If she knew he is Tang San, do you seriously think she will love him?

          4. She is 23, not 19. And he is not succumbing to her seduction. And yes, she doesn’t know that he is 18, but as a reader, I know, and it makes me do not like this relationship.

          5. I disagree on that. Xiao Wu is the perfect match for Tang San. I cannot see any girl who can make him as happy, relaxed and be-at-home as Xiao Wu. You can say as much as you want how awesome Hu Liena is, how wonderful her butt is, but as long as Tang San does not have any feeling for her, that relationship is nothing but trash

          • Did everyone forget that spirit bones can be similar and that Tang San’s 8 spider lances were bright red and blue at the time he was fighting against Hu Liena in the tournament but now his 8 spider lances are bright blue with purple at the tips instead now? and Hu Liena’s mind is a little muddled at the moment.

          • 1.) Wouldn’t be the first time someone changed sides due to love. Or at the very least worked as a spy for him in the shadows allowing him to keep tabs on Spirit Hall’s movement. She will one day be Supreme Pontiff, and then Spirit Hall could pull a 180 and become an ally for Tang San. Remember she has a lot of respect for Tang San due to his performance in the arena, and considers him to be as outstanding as her brother and Tang Yin.

2.) Her presence there hasn’t hindered Tang San too much. He couldn’t use any of his spirit abilities due to the effect of them being suppressed. Without Spirit abilities, blue silver emperor is very limited in what it can do. Her presence there also allows him to conserve more spirit power, as he might not had enough energy to take on both the bat king and the swarm of blood bats by himself. The fact that she was able to make it this far on her own with half the bag of tricks Tang San has is amazing in of itself.

3.) The fact that she knows he’s from Clear Sky means she fell for him already knowing he’s her enemy, and she never hated Tang San. Plus, she’s not stupid. If it was just a crush, she would have never trusted him to this extent. Taking his medication without pause, and teaming up with him when no one should be trusted in Slaughter City. Only true love can make someone that dumb. Yes, his looks play a factor in this; looks play a factor in all attractions. There isn’t a person in this world who doesn’t at least put some importance in looks. What sets her apart from others is that her primary reason for being attracted to him was because of his conduct in slaughter city.

4.) Seduction? She would have never stripped if it wasn’t necessary to use the clothes as a rope. In all this time the only action that could be taken as seduction would be when she clapped her hands against her chest; and let’s face it, that was probably an involuntary reaction to show relief due to beating the bat king. No the truth is she’s only been lightly teasing him when he displays signs of attraction. That’s something that all girls do, to an extent, and is actually kind of endearing.

5.) Age doesn’t really matter much once the brain becomes fully developed. I’ve seen couples where the girl was ten years older than the man, and they have been married for a while know.

6.) I understand people want Tang San to end up with Xiao Wu; but if the author just killed off all of her competition over Tang San’s love, you would never be able to see Tang San’s loyalty to Xiao Wu.

            • People really love to ship, huh.

I prefer the way this story is playing out, a personal harem for the mc would feel weird and go against the personality he has shown so far.

            • 1. It is simply too naive to think she will change side because of Tang San, especially when her love for Tang San is not returned. Spirit Hall raised her. Bibi Dong is her master. If she really betrays them, what kind of person she is?

              2. I think you misunderstood my argument. My argument is NOT about Hu Liena being useful or useless. My argument is that Tang San can clear the Hell Road alone without her tagging along. Tang San has experienced many more difficult battle, and in the Hell Road, I don’t see him that struggled.

              3. Hu Liena said she will definitely repaid the humiliation Tang San caused to her in blood. Is this not considered enemy? How much she fell in love with Tang Yin, or simply had a crush, it is too early to tell at the moment, as there is no proof. But again, the person that she fell in love with (if you insists) is Tang Yin, not Tang San as who he is. She actually never knew his personalities.

              4. Hu Liena is described to be very pure. Pure to the extent that she “innocently” took out all her clothes on her first day with a man? And you are telling me Xiao Wu is rash & impulsive? Come on, Tang San has not even took out his clothes, why she is so ready to do so? Without any second thought? Yah, it is for very “practical” reasons.

              5. In Asian countries, a girl trying to seduce boys 5 year younger is considered abnormal, at least unfavorable.

              6. Tang San’s love for Xiao Wu has been stressed so much in the novel to the extent it would be ridiculous to see him love another girl. I know Hu Liena is there just for the purpose of testing or setup for later parts of the story. But for the reasons I gave above, I just feel annoying having her in the story. Cannot wait for next chapters, when we can get rid of her.

I don’t think our arguments can change each other’s opinion about Hu Liena and it is not fun to justify your hatred about a character you dont like or dont even care about. I understand your feeling about your favorite character being hated by so many commenter. I do not hate Hu Liena that much, it is just that as a supporter for Xiao Wu, I feel the urge to raise my opinion.

              • I’d say she’d be a great person if she betrayed spirit hall because she realizes she’s not willing to serve a group that are going around needlessly killing people and making enemies everywhere. Seriously though the repeated statement that he could do it alone isn’t THAT likely. He only has so much spirit power and assuming he could handle the bats and everything by himself. He would requirement stopping a number of times. As stated the road is something that must be passed quickly because just being there affects you. Ah, also the further in the harder to breathe and resist the heat further sapping his spirit power. How much energy do you think he has?

                • 1. You sound naive thinking that she would betray Spirit Hall and that Spirit Hall only is looked upon as ‘needlessly killing people and making enemies everywhere’.
                  2. No it is very likely that he would be able to do it on his own given his abilities

Hu liena is a ‘burden’ and a prospective future enemy but the debt she has accumulated might or might not influence her in a positive way due to her feelings or she might just disregard them once she is turned down

Hu liena is nothing more than a training accessoiry at this point
Especially killing intent versus lust will prove useful to tang tang

Its a shame that that love story probably wont be (if it start, it probably end up like grandmaster and the pontify), because of what we have seen before, the author probably dont want harem for this. So its a little sad to look at a what it seems the start of a pure love (from her side) to not be fulfill.

        • 1. Although she is 100000 years, but during that period, she only knew how to cultivate, without interacting with any human. So, about love relationship, she is also like any normal girl. If you read the story carefully, apart from creating the spirit rings on her own, her body and personalities developed like a normal girl.

          2. Although she loves Tang San, she never tried to seduce Tang San the same way as Hu Liena does. All she did is pouting, making him massage her legs, letting him combing her hair, cooking for him, clearing the dishes for him, being a sparring partner for him, supporting him when he is weak, letting him have his own time, patiently waiting for him to return from training, taking care of him when he is injured. The interaction between the 2 is never exceed the limit, but at the same time very gentle and tender.

          3. They have been with each other for so long, and although the story so far described Xiao Wu’s love towards Tang San first (as when she picked the flower), but in reality, Tang San’s love came first, he just misunderstood it as brotherly love. So Tang San love comes first, and Xiao Wu responds. I would not say she pursue him. At that time, the 2 are already for each other.

Why? Better personnality, less childish, SMART and mature woman, confident in her looks but surprisingly pure… And not just a character who only trait is to love the main character like a TSUNDERE.

But Im still wondering why Tang San dont kill her at this point. I just hope it will prove wise storywise to spare her. But yeah, killing the girl would be so much more different and interesting. And not without LOTS of benefits as well.

It’s already been stated on multiple occasions that keeping your killing intent under control is vital, and Tang San is only barely hanging on because of his techniques. If Tang San kills Hu Liena it could potentially mean him failing and dying on Hell’s Road. Ignore all moral and logical arguments. Preservation of one’s life always comes as the top priority.
