I’ve been waiting so so so long to see Dai Mubai react to what hass befallen Tang San and Xiao Wu at the hands of Spirit Hall. Obviously he will get mad, but how will he handle the situation after learning? Dai Mubai is the Boss of the SSD. He feels a responsibility as the oldest. We see this through out the story. I’m very excited to finally get him back into the story.
Really? How is it sad if Fatty plans to actually treat her well? In this society and story a lot more importance is placed on strength than it is good looks. Fatty is immensely more powerful than Chenxiang and his innate talent and his spirit itself are much much better than hers. Her grandfather agreed to the proposal because he sees this. Fatty is the strongest attacked of the SSD. Boss Dai has more staminia and more reusable spirt abilities but Fatty has more burst power than even Tang San, let alone the fact he still isn’t a spirit emperor.
You do understand that in the beginning. Immediately after his spirit awakened at the age of 6 he had a sever variation that would LITERALLY KILL HIM if he didn’t have a good romp. Until he was like 14 he had to live his everyday life like that just so his own spirit wouldn’t backfire and kill him. After he was cleansed he said so himself, he is a 20ish guy, rightfully the age to go do some canoodling and since his previous upbringing its just became s part of his life. He has just started he will treat her well and be as sincere as he can, that is going from one night stands to a relationship mindset. It’s not like he just went around raping women for sport.
He lived like that for eigth years. For eight years since the age of 6 he had no choice but to go sleep around. You don’t think that would start to cause a habit? Besides that sexis enjoyable. I most certainly enjoy romping on a good gal. Chengxiang should consider herself lucky that someone with as much potential and power as Fatty is willing to try and change in order to woo her. Fatty has more than enough power to kill her with a simply wave. And a lot more power than her grandfather, her grandfather simply has much more spirit power. She should see this as it is, a great opportunity for her to marry someone with immense power and as a way for her tonfutger process her own cultivation. Not like some snobby bitch.
‘She should consider herself lucky’ – I really don’t like the view about women that is implied in those words. As far as I can remember, she is talented, beautiful und herself a strong spirit master (not by Shrek Seven Devils standards of course, but seriously, those guys are way OP). Why does she have to consider herself lucky if a guy that she is not interested in wants to marry her? Maybe she isn’t that interested in how strong her potential future husband is. Maybe she just wants to choose for herself. And maybe she just doesn’t like the guy – and seriously? I don’t like fatty that much either. I don’t like his views on women (which he basically viewed as existing for his own pleasure), I don’t like the kind of arrogance he exhibits (no, I don’t think strengh is a justification for arrogance) and I don’t like the way he tries to use his connection to Tang San to get her. (I don’t particularily care about his looks, since it bothers me anyway how much importance is attached to that. And while I’m at it, it also bothers me that he (at least initially) went after her because of her looks, but expects that she won’t give a damn about his).
As for your first point: I don’t have that much of a problem with him having slept with many women. But why the hell should she believe that he wants to change for her? She doesn’t know him and as far as she knows he could have told that to every single woman he ever slept with.
So your reasoning is purely driven by the fact that all guys in Xianxia must be as pure and clean untainted by even a spec of dust just like Tang San? Then I’ll not further argue about plot or story okr reasoning or the fact that having sex and committing adultry also requires the girl to lie and cheat but sure, do what women do and blame it all in the guy. I’m going back to private forums where we actually discuss the happenings and reasonings in the novel, not just stick our opinion in and say I don’t like him because he had sex and sex is bad.

it’s a fictional story, gosh folks, let people have their opinions! we all know that fatty is going to end up with Chengxiang, and we all recognize that fatty is a good guy at his core. but he’s also unattractive and can have a lousy personality at times — any female character with these traits in the story would get laughed off if they tried to propose to tang san, even if they were really powerful and a good person at their core.
and boys: lay off the sexism. many folks here make comments about the female character’s butts and boobs as if they were made for you. don’t be surprised when a female reader is annoyed by an ugly male character getting to have his way (even if it’s going to take time) with a beautiful female character.
Actually, to a certain extent, our culture also still works like that. Why else would it be possible to use the fact that a woman had variing partners as a defense in a rape trial?
Sorry, but where was it stated that men have to be pure? I totally agree with DMR that it is unfair that men are allowed to sleep around as much as they want, while women are considered a whore if they do the same (actually, even in our society that is still the case to some extent). Either both are allowed to sleep around or neither is. That would be fair. And why do women have to lie and cheat to have sex and men don’t? Also, if only men are allowed to sleep around and women have to be pure: where the hell do the men get the women to sleep around with?
About this men vs women issue. Even though humans have sex for pleasure, if you really think about it isn’t nature actually the one playing the role. Yes society dictates that men and women both shouldn’t be sleeping around but in reality this act is simply reproduction. Women and Men are both attracted to people who they perceive as strong and fitting to be their parents. No matter what society dictates this is human nature. The rules of society actually tries to manage this human nature. That’s my opinion.
In the case of fatty and this girl fatty had whored around enough abd now is looking for serious partner right. For someone like him it’s fascinating to see how they settle down with one partner. I think it’s cool. And that girl obviously putting on airs is natural too right. There is always a expected type of partner vs. The actual type of partner suited for every person.

There is a difference. Tang San is the MC (if I find the main character -male or female- awesome enough, I don’t mind as much if they get a harem/reverse-harem).

Wasn’t the jade pendant like the sign of the emperor himself, according the same authority to whoever has it. That’s also why they all kneel, because while wearing it, Tan San is considered as an extension of the emperor and talking to him is like talking to the emperor himself.

No Evilfirechicken described that correctly the pendants aka tablets or markers are symbols of authority very few are ever issued and those bearing it do have the full authority of who’s it is at least 3 have been in the story so far the spirit elder one that Tang Hao gave to grandmaster the one the emperor gave to Dugu Bo and the one the prince gave to Tang San.

Because this isn’t the main site for the story. It’s hosted on a Google drive which has an active forums section that also includes a schedule provided by the translators that changes color depending on if the chapter is done. Red is for needs proof reading yellow is unpublished and green is released. If it doesn’t have a color, which 198 and 199 don’t then it is still being translated.

I Take you never translated anything in your life, there are actually a really simple explanation to why piggy did 201 and not 198. And take it from someone that has done plenty of translations for a fansub:
THERE ARE CHAPTERS THAT YOU LIKE MORE AND YOU WANT TO TRANSLATE THEM MORE THAN OTHERS.
So it made it okay to not only scree with the community t,that is waiting for your translations but also the people you are translating with just because you want to do chapter 201 before 198 after having 198 for two weeks, which would be given him ample time to ask Bagelson or Owl404 to take up 198 instead of him.
Holy crap, what kind of spoiled brat are you? Who made you think that you are entitled to any chapter at all? Currently all of us are only able to enjoy this story because Bagel, Owl and Piggy chose to translate in their free time instead of banging their girlfriends, playing games, or whatever other stuff they could be doing.
So first start by showing a bit of respect and gratefulness for everthing you got until now. Hell, even if we’d only get 1 chapter a month that would be no reason to whine around like this. They are doing this as a HOBBY. So we don’t have any right to complain, since they are already doing this in their free time, which they could also use for something else (for example something where nobody complains about not getting enough chapters). So maybe Piggybottle liked chapter 201 and therefore wanted to translate it first. Maybe 198 is a difficult chapter and therefore taking more time. Neither you nor I know the reasons of any of the translators, so starting with a rant at one of them is pretty unfair in my mind.
And just for the record: since they are doing this as a hobby, they could translate the series backwards if they wanted to and we still wouldn’t have any right to complain. Just my opinion though.

In self defense, I finished 198 ages ago, I just forgot to rename the Chinese file name which bagel could not access in the Google Drive. Unfortunately I am involved with the military and am unable to access my pc to fix the problem quickly. I did email the file to bagel though through what I can access in camp.

Even if it had been more than just a simple issue like that, I think I can speak for most of us here in saying we’re really grateful for your translations and your time, and understand that stuff happens and the schedule isn’t ALWAYS perfect. But you all do a great job! And the weekly updates are more consistent and substantial than a lot of other sites. So, thank you!

Agreed…my comment is probably polluting this as well. Just wanted to get it out that the translators have been running this for some time now. Imagine what it probably feels to read a ton of these comments. Like an annoying clingy person next to you 😛 . Anyways my point really was the comments section should probably have comments or discussions about the chapter content or news about the chapter imho. I understand there is a forum for that as well but in my opinion, and I understand people might disagree with this, I feel comments like these should have some different thread outside of each chapter’s comment section.

In a way, I’m extremely thankful for the delay. I couldn’t stand it and started reading the Ch198 raw, extremely painfully I might add, as I’ve only been studying Chinese for 2-3 months. Boy oh boy, it’s taken me like 2 hrs to get through 1/2 of the chapter, but it’s been particularly rewarding, and now I know how to pronounce all of their names, having seen the chinese chars. Pretty cool! Might spend more time reading the raws going forward.
Wow, thats pretty good. Reading original after just 2 month, even more – chinese original – is VERY good. Did you use translation programs or only dictionaries?
Minor advice – try to come back when the chapter is done and compare your read to whats done by TL. That will help you with getting the language.
I use zhongwen chinese popup dictionary, so I sort of read it phrase by phrase, but I spent the past 2.5 months or so going through the HSK system, and I’m about 1/4 of the way through HSK4, so I’ve got down about 800 useful chars at this point, which accounts for about maybe 1/3 of the chars I see in the novel. The dictionary fills in the blanks, hence the slow reading. If I can double that to about 1500 over the next 2.5 months or so, I should be reading with much less discontinuity, which will make it a lot easier. Interestingly, i tried reading a bit after HSK2 and HSK3 and the difference is quite noticeable after each lvl and even only 1/4 of the way through HSK4. Biggest hurdles will be going from recognizing the rare-use chars that are unique to wuxia/xianxia… lol
And per your suggestion, I will re-read it after the translators came out (only takes a few mins in english afterall, LOL), but I have a decent grasp on the spoken language, and douluo dalu isn’t as literary complicated as I originally thought (or maybe ch 198 isnt, haha). the biggest pains for me are names of places/things…

I’ve been waiting so so so long to see Dai Mubai react to what hass befallen Tang San and Xiao Wu at the hands of Spirit Hall. Obviously he will get mad, but how will he handle the situation after learning? Dai Mubai is the Boss of the SSD. He feels a responsibility as the oldest. We see this through out the story. I’m very excited to finally get him back into the story.

Really? How is it sad if Fatty plans to actually treat her well? In this society and story a lot more importance is placed on strength than it is good looks. Fatty is immensely more powerful than Chenxiang and his innate talent and his spirit itself are much much better than hers. Her grandfather agreed to the proposal because he sees this. Fatty is the strongest attacked of the SSD. Boss Dai has more staminia and more reusable spirt abilities but Fatty has more burst power than even Tang San, let alone the fact he still isn’t a spirit emperor.

You do understand that in the beginning. Immediately after his spirit awakened at the age of 6 he had a sever variation that would LITERALLY KILL HIM if he didn’t have a good romp. Until he was like 14 he had to live his everyday life like that just so his own spirit wouldn’t backfire and kill him. After he was cleansed he said so himself, he is a 20ish guy, rightfully the age to go do some canoodling and since his previous upbringing its just became s part of his life. He has just started he will treat her well and be as sincere as he can, that is going from one night stands to a relationship mindset. It’s not like he just went around raping women for sport.

I most certainly enjoy romping on a good gal. Chengxiang should consider herself lucky that someone with as much potential and power as Fatty is willing to try and change in order to woo her. ‘She should consider herself lucky’ – I really don’t like the view about women that is implied in those words. As far as I can remember, she is talented, beautiful und herself a strong spirit master (not by Shrek Seven Devils standards of course, but seriously, those guys are way OP). Why does she have to consider herself lucky if a guy that she is not interested in wants to marry her? Maybe she isn’t that interested in how strong her potential future husband is. Maybe she just wants to choose for herself. And maybe she just doesn’t like the guy – and seriously? I don’t like fatty that much either. I don’t like his views on women (which he basically viewed as existing for his own pleasure), I don’t like the kind of arrogance he exhibits (no, I don’t think strengh is a justification for arrogance) and I don’t like the way he tries to use his connection to Tang San to get her. (I don’t particularily care about his looks, since it bothers me anyway how much importance is attached to that. And while I’m at it, it also bothers me that he (at least initially) went after her because of her looks, but expects that she won’t give a damn about his).
As for your first point: I don’t have that much of a problem with him having slept with many women. But why the hell should she believe that he wants to change for her? She doesn’t know him and as far as she knows he could have told that to every single woman he ever slept with.

it’s a fictional story, gosh folks, let people have their opinions! we all know that fatty is going to end up with Chengxiang, and we all recognize that fatty is a good guy at his core. but he’s also unattractive and can have a lousy personality at times — any female character with these traits in the story would get laughed off if they tried to propose to tang san, even if they were really powerful and a good person at their core.
and boys: lay off the sexism. many folks here make comments about the female character’s butts and boobs as if they were made for you. don’t be surprised when a female reader is annoyed by an ugly male character getting to have his way (even if it’s going to take time) with a beautiful female character.

About this men vs women issue. Even though humans have sex for pleasure, if you really think about it isn’t nature actually the one playing the role. Yes society dictates that men and women both shouldn’t be sleeping around but in reality this act is simply reproduction. Women and Men are both attracted to people who they perceive as strong and fitting to be their parents. No matter what society dictates this is human nature. The rules of society actually tries to manage this human nature. That’s my opinion.

There is a difference. Tang San is the MC (if I find the main character -male or female- awesome enough, I don’t mind as much if they get a harem/reverse-harem).
Besides, I’m usually just joking around anyways.
My real ship was actually Tang San X Rongrong (I think I actually mentioned that a few times too, and the fact that I wasn’t really that serious).
In fact, I rarely (jokingly) asked for harem. It’s just that people remembered the few times I did.
If you read my comments in series’ that actually have harems, you would see that I actually don’t like them as much (but talking about them is much more fun).

Wasn’t the jade pendant like the sign of the emperor himself, according the same authority to whoever has it. That’s also why they all kneel, because while wearing it, Tan San is considered as an extension of the emperor and talking to him is like talking to the emperor himself.

No Evilfirechicken described that correctly the pendants aka tablets or markers are symbols of authority very few are ever issued and those bearing it do have the full authority of who’s it is at least 3 have been in the story so far the spirit elder one that Tang Hao gave to grandmaster the one the emperor gave to Dugu Bo and the one the prince gave to Tang San.

Because this isn’t the main site for the story. It’s hosted on a Google drive which has an active forums section that also includes a schedule provided by the translators that changes color depending on if the chapter is done. Red is for needs proof reading yellow is unpublished and green is released. If it doesn’t have a color, which 198 and 199 don’t then it is still being translated.

And as for my ranting at Piggybottle, it is also justified, who translate a chapter four chapters ahead of the last translated one when he himself checked out the very next chapter inline to translate but has yet to finish it? Do you understand that these people have their own lives? be happy they are even willing to release these to us to read. They do this as a hobby, so by all rights, they could just keep all of this to themselves, because that’s exactly what a hobby is. Something that you find enjoyment in doing. You are the type of person that cause translators to stop doing what they do because you are so ungrateful and so self important you think the world revolves around you and what you want. get the hell over yourself. They don’t accept donations because then they are at the mercy of the investors, and at that point, it isn’t a hobby, it’s a job. So do us all a favor, shut the fuck up. If you don’t like waiting, get the raws yourself, Translate it yourself, then edit it YOURSELF. If you don’t want to go through all that YOURSELF, then wait patiently like the rest of us and keep your opinions to YOURSELF.

They are doing this as a HOBBY. So we don’t have any right to complain, since they are already doing this in their free time, which they could also use for something else (for example something where nobody complains about not getting enough chapters). So maybe Piggybottle liked chapter 201 and therefore wanted to translate it first. Maybe 198 is a difficult chapter and therefore taking more time. Neither you nor I know the reasons of any of the translators, so starting with a rant at one of them is pretty unfair in my mind.
And just for the record: since they are doing this as a hobby, they could translate the series backwards if they wanted to and we still wouldn’t have any right to complain. Just my opinion though.

In self defense, I finished 198 ages ago, I just forgot to rename the Chinese file name which bagel could not access in the Google Drive. Unfortunately I am involved with the military and am unable to access my pc to fix the problem quickly. I did email the file to bagel though through what I can access in camp.

Even if it had been more than just a simple issue like that, I think I can speak for most of us here in saying we’re really grateful for your translations and your time, and understand that stuff happens and the schedule isn’t ALWAYS perfect. But you all do a great job! And the weekly updates are more consistent and substantial than a lot of other sites. So, thank you!

So I can deal with waiting longer for the chapters (I don’t like it of course) but I wish we could get a translator to just kinda pop in on the comments here or make a post saying what caused the delay/estimated time of the release.

My bad, I forgot to rename the translated file so bagel could not access it. I can’t access my PC as I am in a military base atm but I tried to make do with my phone and emailed the file to bagel. So… Perhaps you will see it soon

people that have the nerve to complain about something they get for free then they are a spoiled little brat. i don’t say everytime but most of the time a kid doesn’t grow up to become a spoiled brat without having been raised to be one. of course i know some people that are idiots yet have had great parents but just the majority of the times it is the parents fault.
though it doesn’t make the parents responible for the kids actions but it is indirectly their fault is what i want to say.

For people who don’t read previous comments, the translation is finished, but they are having trouble getting it to a place where it can be uploaded, per personal reasons. Give them time, it’s not going anywhere.

Agreed…my comment is probably polluting this as well. Just wanted to get it out that the translators have been running this for some time now. Imagine what it probably feels to read a ton of these comments. Like an annoying clingy person next to you 😛 . Anyways my point really was the comments section should probably have comments or discussions about the chapter content or news about the chapter imho. I understand there is a forum for that as well but in my opinion, and I understand people might disagree with this, I feel comments like these should have some different thread outside of each chapter’s comment section.

In a way, I’m extremely thankful for the delay. I couldn’t stand it and started reading the Ch198 raw, extremely painfully I might add, as I’ve only been studying Chinese for 2-3 months. Boy oh boy, it’s taken me like 2 hrs to get through 1/2 of the chapter, but it’s been particularly rewarding, and now I know how to pronounce all of their names, having seen the chinese chars. Pretty cool! Might spend more time reading the raws going forward.

Wow, thats pretty good. Reading original after just 2 month, even more – chinese original – is VERY good. Did you use translation programs or only dictionaries?
Minor advice – try to come back when the chapter is done and compare your read to whats done by TL. That will help you with getting the language.

I use zhongwen chinese popup dictionary, so I sort of read it phrase by phrase, but I spent the past 2.5 months or so going through the HSK system, and I’m about 1/4 of the way through HSK4, so I’ve got down about 800 useful chars at this point, which accounts for about maybe 1/3 of the chars I see in the novel. The dictionary fills in the blanks, hence the slow reading. If I can double that to about 1500 over the next 2.5 months or so, I should be reading with much less discontinuity, which will make it a lot easier. Interestingly, i tried reading a bit after HSK2 and HSK3 and the difference is quite noticeable after each lvl and even only 1/4 of the way through HSK4. Biggest hurdles will be going from recognizing the rare-use chars that are unique to wuxia/xianxia… lol
And per your suggestion, I will re-read it after the translators came out (only takes a few mins in english afterall, LOL), but I have a decent grasp on the spoken language, and douluo dalu isn’t as literary complicated as I originally thought (or maybe ch 198 isnt, haha). the biggest pains for me are names of places/things…
