This shows me that the Sea God specifically gave him these Hellish Trials, because he won’t survive nor be worthy of being his heir, without them. Now if you remember when tang San first connected to the Vast Sea Cosmic Shroud, the Sea God said that he had good blood, and when the Deep Sea Demonic Whale was about to kill Tang San he protected him. And then my final point: Tang San noticed that the Vast Sea Cosmic Shroud seemed to have dimmed a bit. So I think he needed a suitable Successor to take his place because he was starting to weaken. So the Trials are meant to train him for what is to come in the future.

This chapter helped the theory that Rong Rong only get a red trial because she asked for it, since the high priest said her requirement was actually quite a bit higher even though it should have been the same. Seems like some serious BS actually – she gets an easier requirement, gets carried the whole way, and still gets the full bonus 500 yrs to all rings.
Peak trials are divided by ranks (number of tests). High priest had peak level eight tests, but Rong Rong has peak level seven tests. So it is meant to be easier.
Why is that a problem? If you ask me this first test is highly biased towards battle spirit masters in the first place; especially power attack spirit masters. They have the strongest bodies naturally because of the innate qualities and promotion direction of their spirit. Ning Rongrong is an auxiliary system spirit master. Her Nine Treasure Glazed Tile Pagoda spirit is a pure support spirit, with innate qualities geared towards supporting others. Also, the only spirit bone she has is a skull-type spirit bone, which provides mainly mental enhancement and likely not much in the way of physical enhancement. If she were to have to take this test by herself, without outside help, then I would have said this test was absolutely rigged against her.
But Tang San said it and Bo Saixi confirmed it; the goal of this trial was to strengthen the body and spirit as much as possible in the year they had, and then help each other pass. In other words, it’s a team collaboration. Because of that I’m pretty sure that the intensity of these trials has been decided with the strength of the entire team in mind.
Totally agree with you, this test is less meant to be a “test” but rather a boot camp to strengthen the body and improve teamwork!
Also I think all these test are less aimed at testing the abilities of the S7D (remember the Sea God knows teir abilities very well since his spirit seems to be contained inside Tang San’s shroud), but more of a way for the Sea God to specifically train Tang San, his successor. To show him what being a god really means, making sacrifices of your own power to help your people, surpassing your limits, leading a group of weaker people and carrying part of their burden even thought it will make your own life harder, …
Basically all these trials, in my opinion, are just meant to give Tang San some pressure, and the fact that people that are rather weak, like Rongrong, still get benefits are more of a nice side effect

That may seem like not much but when it comes to peek levels I would assume that the difference is like the one between a level 95 Title Duolo and a level 96 Title Duolo. It may not seem like much but it is very significant.
As to why she got it it could be because she possess the best auxiliary type spirit in existence.
I think it was a little bit of both. But mostly I think the Sea God wanted to test the true limits of the “Best Auxiliary System Spirit Master.” Testing everyone’s resolve as the most talented and highest potentialled Spirit Masters in the History of Douluo Continent.
The best part of the whole chapter was this:
Tang San’s hairdressing had levelled up considerably. Xiao Wu’s hair became extremely neat, and a scorpion braid gradually formed under Tang San’s deft hands. Starting from the back of her head, until it was finished.
at least we all know if spirt master isn’t something that works out for him he should have a good career as a hair dresser lol.
That is assuming it’s 1/week, there are weeks we get 4 or 5, heck I still remember there was a point we got like 6 at once. That unaccountable for spike in activity is what allows the chapters to go from taking the next year n half to get outta the trail arc to maybe a half year or so, depending on how many spikes happen.

I haven’t read the whole chapter yet, but one thing confuses me. If he used Blue silver avatar to help Rong Rong, then how could he use it again just 6 hrs later? It’s been stated many times that after using avatars, not only could one not use avatar again for 2 days, but it could also weaken one down to 80% for the recovery period.
How can bai follow them up, she dident pass a test like them, so she will still get preasure from the mountain, it makes no sense for her to follow them up

Even though I could propably read 10 Chapters a day if aviable, I dont really mind having only one chapter a week.
It would be nice though to have more, but on the other side, its nice to have something to read every once in a while.
Other books that were already finished, well. I didnt do much other stuff while reading through that. So a little slower pace is also nice.
