That was because the treasure pagoda only had 7 floors (only able to have 7 spirit rings) which was why Rongrong’s treasure pagoda mutating to have 9 floors (can now theoretically have 9 rings) was such a big deal.

This author really places a lot of emphasis on appearance considering this is all written – Tang San was average looking then became handsome after his blue silver grass awakened again to Blue Silver Emperor. Fatty was always getting put down and now he’s transformed into a handsome skinny guy. Basically the only two who weren’t handsome/beautiful to begin with became so when they became more powerful. Power = beauty?
Of course I remember they stay youthful and have long lives. There was never anything explicitly stated that it’s guaranteed they’ll get more beautiful though.
That is the manhua only, other than those that are of the rank 99, as all 99 ranked that are described in the light novel are quite youthful looking and live a very long time.
However, all others are much older looking, especially compared to the manhua that made them all suuuuper young. Rongrong’s dad was described more as a youthful 40 year old or so. Remember the Bone Douluo? He’s literally described as an old man that seems to be only skin and bones.

In ch. 174 the elephant dude said it would happen in a year which has already passed in the current chapter so I am assuming they missed the competition already? Wasn’t disrupting that competition one of Tang San’s objectives in hurting The spirit hall?
Since he has 9 trials I am assuming he will spend 9 years on that island by the time he’s done won’t spirit hall already take over everything?

I’m not sure when, maybe when granmaster told tang san about seagod island, but I remember an extract in which tang san recognized that getting stronger had to be his first priority for the moment, and that even without having been recognized as one of the great sect, the tang sect would have grown in power as well. As for spirit hall conquering everything in the meantime…let’s hope not. If the two empire unite their strenght while being assisted by the seven treasure and tang sect’s hidden weapons…they should be able to hold out for a few years.
In chapter 197 grandmaster said to tang san that they cant stop spirit hall from accomplishing their goals in the reselection with their current strength
