  1. Just realised something funny.
If a guy is below 90 spirit power, and has a spirit bone in his limbs, simply amputating him would be a death sentence. Whereas a person *without* a spirit bone would still live after getting amputated… Seems like a crappy deal to me. Or a glaringly obvious weakness.
Either way, the great and mighty spirit masters could be killed by an injury which a normal person could live through. Pretty embarrassing for the spirit master, if you ask me. Am I right? XD

    Liked by 6 people

    • I would assume that actually taking off a limb with a spirit bone wouldn’t be easy; and if someone is capable of taking one off, they’re probably strong enough to kill them regardless. It may also be that removing the spirit bone yourself is different than having it taken off by someone else; if you take it off yourself, you can remove the connection to it, if it’s someone else, you’re probably still connected in some way.

      Liked by 3 people

    • never thought about it like that, but i guess you’re right. Then again, we don’T really know how easy it would be to amputate a spiritbone infused limb without using a divine tool, maybe you simply can’t sever the bodypart unless the spirit master is already dead

      Like

    • Considering the benefits of getting a Spirit Bone, it’s hardly a crappy deal. After all, it’s not like people lose their limbs all that frequently. Plus, the Spirit Bones themselves are practically indestructible, so you can use them to block attacks that would normally go clean through the limb.

      Like

    • I actually like it. that way there is some sort of balance for having another op ability that isn’t determined by your level, spirit bones are cheats so the fact that there is a demerit is kinda cool.

      Like

    • But remember spirit bones provide strength for the body too like spirit rings but differently because it condense its power to the area where it is attached, in fact in dd2 the new white tiger guy used his arm with spirit bone to block a powerful attack. We can say that your point is right but cutting spirit Master’s arm with SB is not as easy as slicing a butter.

So now he has his frist stpirit rin on the Clear Sky Hammer and can ressurect Xiao Wu. He has also fulfilled all the condicions that the Clear Sky Schools elders gave him so the ban on leaving the mountai will be lifted (although they seem to want him to becaseu the new succesor of the shool which he cant sice he promised his own Tang Sect elders so this will be interesting)

Now we have to wait for the next one…..GOD FUCKING DAMMIT!!!

    • I’m wondering… since his great grandfather gave him authority over the clear sky school and no one in the school could compare with him regarding strenght, couldn’t we believe he’ll manage to bring the Clear Sky School to be a part of the Tang Sect, just like the four pure attribute clans? Won’t they form the core of his Tang Sect’s martial hall? That would be interesting.

      Like

      • The problem isnt with the Clear Sky School but with the clans that now make up the Tang Sect. If he were to bring them in then he would lose at least 2 of them and at worst all of them. Plus Tang-san swore, when they joined into his sect, that they will be separete from the Clear Sky School.

The elders of the Tang Sect will overlook him helping the School but only to some extend.

      • The four attribute clans (especially the breaking clan) hates the clear sky school for abandoning them. Also, one of Tang San’s preconditions to the four attribute clans was that they would never ally or subordinate themselves under the Clear Sky School again. But I don’t know… might develop unexpectedly.

        • Well, he now has the authority to abolish the Clear Sky School, so he can keep his promise on a technicality if he just abolishes the school and then brings all the members over to the Tang Sect. In real life no one would accept that, but in this story everyone just ends up worshiping Tang San and letting him get away with everything.

          • Even if everyone would accept that he would never do it. Tang san is a man that values his word and he him doing somehtign so low would be 100% out of character.

What mere 7 title douluo of CS can do, Tang San can do better.
CS foundation also gone together with 4 pure attribute clans, CS is nothing but body without limps.
CS will beg Tang San to be their head but he will refuse and only become elder figure or something.

      • I agree with the person that said a chapter a week is too slow, but we can’t overlook the lives of the translators. But, and this is a very big but. We need to have some form of communication between the community and translator. I am not asking for hourly readiness of the translator to answer our questions. All I am asking for is some form of update on the progress. It doesn’t even have to be a week in advance. As an example: He could post a comment where he tells us that there won’t be a chapter tomorrow, or that the progress is halted for X amount of days because real life circumstances. That is the only flaw that I see here.

      But thanks for the chapter.

Its to bad especially since he used to realise multiple chapters a week. Those used to be the glory days.

Personally I wouldn’t mind him sitting up some donation system to pay for the translation but since he wants to keep this as a hobby and not a job then all I can say is:oh, well.

I really hope that we soon get a list of all the spirit abilities of the S7D, because right now, even for Tang San, we don’t know the second ability of his overlord spear, nor of his avatar, and adding up now 4 more ring and 4 more bone abilities, I need a list to keep up with all that stuff. (also I wanna know the effect of Ning Ronrongs 100 000 years spirit rings)

    Liked by 4 people

      • The thought of Tang San with 4 domains is making my head hurt, All things need a limit at some point. Also, wasn’t boundless nature the second ability of his 7th ring?

        Liked by 2 people

        • He may get to four eventually. We know that domains are usually a “bonus” title duoluo ability. Tang San has two innate domains and twin spirits. If both his ninth rings will give him access to a domain, at that point he’ll have four.

          Liked by 2 people

        • That’s what I thought too. Boundless Nature was one ability of the 7th ring, which gives him the power to absorb energy through all the plants in the vicinity. The second ability was that he could transfer his body to any blue silver grass plant inside his domain, so if he is struck, he could easily dodge it by hopping to a different strand of blue silver grass. He basically won’t be able to die as long as it’s activated.

          Liked by 1 person

          • Wasn’t “immortality as long as there is blue silver grass” simply a side effect of “boundless nature” , which in turn was the evolved form of his blue silver domain? Kinda like the “asura slash” (or however he called it) was the evolved ability of his deathgod domain?… might be mistaken on that tho, but too lazy to reread the chapter xD

            Liked by 1 person

        • I know it has something to do with his BSEDomain, a power up if I remember. The boundless nature is the 3rd level of his Domain under the amplification of the Spirit Avatar, I’m not sure if it is the second ability of the 7th ring but probably its not.

          Liked by 1 person

    • I think Douluo Dalu wikia already list them in spoiler area.

I don’t think his fifth spirit ring (hundreds thousand years blue silver spirit ring) had second ability. I dimly recall Blue Silver King who condensed that spirit ring for him said that spirit ring only gave him one ability (Silver Overlord Spear) but that spirit ring will evolve with him.

    Like

      • According to DD1 yea. Also he should of had died as MC of DD2 shouldn’t of had been able to absorb it. His body is not even close to Tang San. Reason why I’m hesistant to read it cause author doesn’t go with the rules he set.

        Like

        • The author’s long since abandoned his rules even with the original DD. Remember when spirit bones didn’t give abilities, only attribute boosts? Or when a 100,000 year spirit beast that chose to stay in beast form would die after 1000 years? Or when Tang Hao’s ninth spirit ring was black? There are countless other examples of him abandoning things stated early in the series. Compared to that, the million year spirit ring actually has something of an explanation. If you’ve stuck with DD this far, I think you’ll enjoy DD2 despite whatever contradictions it has.

          Liked by 1 person

        • More or less (since I may be mixing it up a bit) spoilers for DD2:

Well in DD2 the beast didnt became a god because it was to weak to pass the Dragon Trials (or whatever they were called) that are supposed to happen. Even here the only reason why the demon whale is considered the spirit beast closest to being a god despite not being even close to a million is because it passed those trials and god power boosts from it. This means that while they say 1 million years of cultivation what is meant is the power that you can get.

As for why the MC lived its because the worm used its power to not just sacrifice itself but also to became a intelligent spirit ring with the ability to limit the power output so that it would not destroy the MC. Basically something like Tang Sans 5th spirit ring that grwos with him.

          Like

        • The first ring of Yuhao (DD2) is an intelligent type of Spirit ring with its own consciousness and disguising itself as White 10yr ring, he provide a seal for his own power in order for Yuhao to withstand it and gave him power only to the extent of his limit for the time being, as Yuhao level up and became stronger the ring adjust its output so basically its a real cheat

    • “Even though it might not never be repeated, it was absolutely unmatched in history.”

I don’t blame you for skimming over that double negation, it’s dumb and hard to read:
“it might not never be repeated” = “it might be repeated”

      Basically:
“Even though it might happen again, this is the first time.”

No contradiction with DD2 in that regard.

  10. So, it looks like Xiao Wu will be resurrected next chapter, I wonder how pissed off she’ll be? Also wonder how much of a handicap it will be for Tang San to loose the 5 spirit rings he’s going to give her, and how quickly he’ll replace them.

    • I think as long as he replaces them right away, he wouldn’t be handicapped, but rather be even stronger than before. It’s thrilling but also at the same time a bit dull how EVERYTHING goes perfectly for Tang San’s rise to power. “A lowly yet unresistable ability in history of douluo dalu. Induce an unblockable, insatiable luster of living things, rendering their mind to blank. A power that feared even by gods.”

This domain exist in level 70 after getting spirit avatar.
level 70: induce irresistable hot feeling to opposite gender, same age or younger
level 80: evolve to induce irresistable hot feeling to both same & opposite gender, all age
level 90: evolve to induce irresistable hot feeling to humans, & any spirit beast
level 95: evolve to induce irresistable hot feeling to humans, any spirit beast, and gods

    Like

    • Actually, no. It said that Da Ming reverted to a smaller version (because his 100,000 years of cultivation was burning away, turning him into a snake with no years of cultivation) and then his cyan light turned gray. That meant he died, right? Also, Xiao Wu survived because she ate the Yearning Heartbrocken Red in her beast form before she could die, resulting her surviving. But Da Ming and Er Ming never got to eat any life saving herbs at that time.

So Xiao Wu spirit reside in her spirit bone, thats why Tang San removed his right bone to resurect her. But her spirit ring remains with Tang San, so thats her 1000yr cultivation gone which means she will start cultivation from the start as soon as her spirit reaataches to the body? Wasnt the repuirement of sacrifacing of Tang San spirit rings negated by the seagod light? But Da Ming mentions about losing full spirit ring, does that mean Tang San will hunt another 1000yr spirit ring for silver grass and his titled doulou status temporary?

    Like

    • Thanks for the chapter.

This chapter was focused on the sacrifice. But the next one will be on Xiao Wu resurrection. For the moment Tang San didn’t make any action for this, except removing her spirit bone.

Tang San will be able to sacrifice only his weakest rings, since Xiao Wu isn’t strong enough to support one hundred thousand year rings. It isn’t good news for Xiao Wu who won’t have many “spirit energies” coming from only four weak rings (I see it like fuel to ignite a “soul lamp”).
I think Xiao Wu’s soul and those four rings will be removed from Tang San “spirit world” in nearly the same process.

Once Xiao Wu is OK, he will hunt spirit beats for his five empty slots. Those rings have to come from spirit beats or plants which give rings similar in nature (as Bo Saixi said), but which can be much more powerful. So Tang San’s both spirits will have only black and reds rings.

      Liked by 1 person

    • Like bilbo said, for the resurection he only needs her spirit bone, her own 100 000 year ring, and his 4 weaker rings. Put that together with her body and a sprinkle of seagods light, and she should be as good as new.

As for her power level, might be lower because of the few rings she’s getting, or it might be higher, because she got her own cultivation (100 000 y.o. ring) + Tang Sans 4 lower rings.
Essentially we don’t know, but keep in mind, that in the end she’ll get the accumulated rewards for facing all 9 tests together with Tang San, so at worst that will be the moment she gets her own power up.

As for the lost abilities, right now Da Ming is his 9th spirit ring, but dont forget his real 9th ring will be something from seagod ( if i remember correctly he was told to leave that slot unoccupied, right?), so Da Ming’s ring, as a Sky Bull Python should be able to nicely replace his first ring that he got from another snake spirit beast (forgot what it was)…and I guess that’s how it will go on, he’ll just encounter 100 000 yeear beasts that magically fit his needs and then he’ll become super badass.

      Like

      • Before Tang San could speak up, Bo Saixi continued:
“There’s one more thing you have to keep in mind, it’s your eighth trial. Raising your spirit to the nine ring level doesn’t just mean one spirit, it’s all your spirits. You’re different from ordinary spirit masters, you possess two spirits. Therefore, after resurrecting Xiao Wu, you will also have to find spirit rings to amplify your hammer as soon as possible. When you return, you must have twin nine ring spirits. This corresponds to the requirements for the eighth trial and counts as passing. Understand? Five years’ time seems long, but you have to obtain three spirit bones, and more than ten spirit rings. This isn’t a simple mission!”

        > he is supposed to come back with 18 spirit rings according to the content of chapter 254
according to what I understand, considering he made 85 > 90 with 2 spirint ring absorption, if he get 8 more spirit ring on his hammer + 5 more on his grass (those given for the resurection), it is 13 spirint rings : probably enough to reach rank 99
And then, killing the legendary beast will give him the rank 100 and let him absorb this new ring

        Liked by 1 person

        • Haven’t it mention that the 8th and 9th trial is some how connected or overlap? I’m to lazy to reread that chapter but I remember that only after completing the 9th trial which is killing the Demonic Whale he can Absorb the 100k Ring for his Hammer’s 9th slot and complete the 8th trial.

  21. First, I would like to thank you for the work you’re doing to let us enjoy those translation

There is just one thing which bother me every time I read a chapter : the title !
You haven’t read the chapter yet but you already know what will happen inside :/
For example, in this one, Tang San is fighting against the other titled douluo, we already know the beast will sacrifice theirself to give him a ring : no suspens at all !
You can’t read and be nervous about a method the spirit hall could use to get the ring, NO ! you KNOW they will fail and he will get the ring because this is the first thing you could read : sacrifice, nine ring => R.I.P. suspense !

It’s a kind of mandatory spoil, and I still haven’t figured any method to avoid being spoiled every time I wanna read a new chapter
If someone figured out how to fix it, I am really eager to know

Else, if it is possible to hide the title in some kind of tags (like in forums) or to put it at the end of the chapter, it would be better, except if I’m the only one annoyed by that

        – 1st spirit ring: replenishing tofu
        – 2nd spirit ring: detoxifying garlic
        – 3rd spirit ring: flying mushroom
        – 4th spirit ring: explosive mini devil pepper
        – 5th spirit ring: ecstatic chocolate
        – 6th spirit ring: restoration red vanilla

And another difference. In the manhua, Ma Hongjun doesn’t go to brothels but only thinks about food. And I see too that the name Xiao Bai refers in the manhua to a little ape-shaped spirit beast who became Oscar’s partner during his 5 years tour.

Other than that, all the older characters look like they’re barely 30 years old max.

Unless TJSS draws some diagram for us we won’t have a definite answer of what the heck double pupils are.
One possibility is like the picture you posted and the pupils can move around to join into one.
Another possibility is that he somehow has 2 concentric ‘pupils’ and when they change size they look like a single pupil.

Idk, its weird, maybe some meaning is being lost in the translation.
I would also love to know the answer, but google hasn’t brought up much.

    • T.T I need to wake up for dinner or I would sleep for a week or 2. After reading non stop for about 200 hours, now hitting the point where I need to wait realy sucks. XD But I do understand that this is not the dudes job. Seeing as I spend 45 min reading a chapter, I expect he must spend about 3 hours maby translating. 3 hours may not be a lot but thats time he has to set off to work with this. >.> I wish I knew chinese tho.

  24. I’m spazzing out here waiting for the new chapter. And the worst part is not knowing if it will drop or not, since this week was Chinese new years I’m betting on the latter can anyone confirm this??

    • There’s no correlation as I don’t think Bagelson lives in China and the story is already written. So I don’t think it’s unlikely to have any influence on Bagelson’s work.

      • there is because there Bagelson knows chinese so he’s most likely of chinese descent and most chinese people celebrate chinese new year whether or not they’re in china

        • Nooooo. Bagel may or may not be ethnically Chinese. The fact that he’s learning/learned Chinese could have nothing at all to do with his ethnicity. My Chinese friend learned Japanese, that hardly makes him Japanese, right? So well done, you were just racist.

          • Do you even know what racism is? He is not saying that chinese people are better or worse than anyone else.

Of course, not everyone who knows chinese celebrates chinese new year.
But its pretty obvious that people who know chinese are more likely to celebrate chinese new year compared to people who don’t know chinese.

  25. And here goes again all the crying about chapter or no chapter… For f*ck’s sake, sometimes chapters come out on Sunday, sometimes on Monday, hell there even was once a chapter on a Thursday. No need to go nuts if the chap is not out Sunday evening.

    • Well Im not Tang San. D: I get all itchy while waiting for stuff. Even more so stuff I realy look forward too. ^.^

If somone said it will take 5 years or whatever before the next chapter, kinda like how Tang San had to wait 5 years before his father told him the stuffs. Then I would probably go mad. XD I am even dreaming about the Douluo world.

  26. Would anyone be interested in a Douluo Dalu message board/role-play site for indepth discussing and creative writing? As diehard fans, I believe I’m not the only one to eat sleep and dream this series and it’s sequels. I am also quite sure most of us would be very happy to discuss and mull over different fan-fic storylines. The broad frame of time given to us by the creator has left the same open door as Star Wars for publishing quality creative work from fans to fill in ‘minor’ legends of fame.

  27. If you’re so impatient, just do like I did a couple of years ago and Google translate the raws (or use lnmtl, similar translation to Google). I’m now completely caught up with the on going 3rd novel in the series. I still come here too, just because the translations are so good, but it doesn’t ruin my life to not get a chapter every day.

    • Because you’ve already read the extremely Shitty version of it…. And plus It’s not every day, it’s maybe 1 once every 2 weeks. We get fucking lucky if he manages to post 1 once a week. Compared to how it use to be, it’s a complete let down now. Don’t know how this site is still up

      • Exactly, I am satisfied because I read the shitty version. The story is still worth reading. Or you could complain, but it’s pointless. The translators have never committed to a pace.

  28. Anyone know from where is Tang San had each of his red spirit ring for his Blue Silver Emperor ?
I just forget and curious of it now…

    • One he got from Xiao Wu’s sacrifice (5th)
The next one he received from Blue Silver King which evolved with him to red (6th)
Another was a god bestowed one (7th)
Next one was from killing the Demon Killer Whale King (8th)
Last one on BSE is Da Ming (the snake) (9th)

First one on CSH is from Er Ming (the gorilla) (1st)

      • The blue silver king gave him his 5th spirit ring. Xiao wu was his 6th. His 5th ring had the potential to evolve and evolved after Xiao wu sacrificed herself, but it was still his 5th spirit ring.
