Guys just leave this site now. Bagelson is shit and he thinks he is the only one that can translate so he is taking a snail pace on this with an excuse as this is a hobby. Other sites was showing face to him as he has been doing this for a while, but the PEOPLE had enough with this snail pace. Ready this here instead so you do not have to wait a snail pace.
People have real life too you know.. unless his/her job is translating this novel and he/she got paid for this I don’t think you have the right to critisize. If you don’t like waiting then just read somewhere else.. no need to badmouth people
F*ck off. You obviously don’t know quality translations. Bagelson is great but he has stuff to do also. He’s not concieted like you are faggot. Its not like he is a translating machine who can pump out chapter after chapter. Give the man credit. His translation tops that wuxiadream crap.
be that as it may, his unreliable release dates are a pain in the ass. there a re alot of people who would pay for a more stable release than that, and that is from a viepoint of a few years, basically since he started translating this novel. a patreon account is set up pretty fast, and for 100 bucks or more per chapter it would certainly be more effective than that “it’s a hobby crap”
How incredibly generous of you to offer to set up the Patreon account, find a Mandarin English translator of such high quality, pay said translator 100 bucks a chapter and then share the releases for the world to enjoy.
If they weren’t already translating it (even if at this snail pace) a patreon would already exist for such a high quality novel. Saying we shouldn’t criticize them because they do it for free is a pretty dumb argument. they should at least write a word or two If they aren’t going to release a chapter when it’s expected. And in a professional field like translation they are taking work away from those who make a living out of it while forcing to accept a slower release speed because “they do it for free”
May I laugh? I am a professional translator. Just FYI. And I am actually just answering because of you somewhat ridiculous comment about “taking work away from people who make a living out of it”.
So let’s explain, why I had to laugh.
1) “… in a professional field like translation…” What would you consider an “unprofessional field”? Art? There are many people who make a living out of that. And I haven’t heard anyone yet complain about hobby-artists taking money away from people who make a living out of art. For basically every field you could imagine, there are people who make a living out of it. And people who only do it as a hobby. You know, where the problem starts? When corporations find people who are willing to do stuff for free. When a job gets so devalued that everybody expects people to do it for free. And you know what? With your demands for stuff happening exactly as you want it to, you seem much closer to that mindset to me, than the people you are arguing with
2)You know, most professional translators don’t make a living out of unlicensed translations on the internet. Sure, there might be some who do… I must admit that I am not very well versed in the internet translation scene. Fact is that most people who make a living out of translating stuff get hired to do licensed translations. And you know what? The fact that there is a translation on the internet wouldn’t prevent a licensed translation from happening.
So basically your complaint boils down to “I want a group who accepts donations to take over this novel because than I can feel justified in demanding that they do what I want since I (or others) am paying them”.
Or, to put it more succinctly: if you want to feel righteous about professional translators making money then please stop reading internet translations altogether, okay? After all, asking for money for an unlicensed translation would be illegal in some countries, you know?
You guys Realise that WuxiaDream (Linked above) already Finished DD1?
I´ve read it there, and I still come Back here, because the Quality of the Translation is much better.
Basically, I used WuxiaDream to relieve my Addiction, and I come here for actual Enjoyment.
Also, Bagelson already stated when WuxiaDream picked it up, that he still intends to finnish it, … in his own pace. And thats OK.
If you guys want just the Chapters, subscribe to the Blog, and you get an Email notification. I´ll come around from time to time just to add a Visit to the Page. 🙂
Thanks, I plan on using that site to finish the series. BlueSilver definity has a better translation but goddammit I wanna finish this series already. I’m sick of the pace, at this rate I gotta wate nearly a year to finish it. That’s assuming a chapter a week which isn’t always the case. Thank you very much for the link
I wouldn’t really call 1 a week slow. And comparing the quality of translation it’s not even a competition.
Here’s the way something Bagelson translates would read:
I like the color blue.
Now here’s the way wuxiadream’s translation would read:
Blue is a like color.
I don’t really feel anything more need be said.
Bagelson is reliable yo he just has a slow pace, and the guy deserves a break he’s been at it nonstop for weeks he hasn’t taking a break since that time he was churning out 3 chapters a week. I’m anxious and really looking forward to the next chapter but he does good work period I checked out that Wuxiadream website and it doesn’t come close beyond subpar
Well, there are a number of countries that just had a long weekend due to Eid al-Fitr. Perhaps he took time off.
With that said, it would be nice for him to post a simple note saying “Going for a quick break, no translations next week, expect a chapter the week after.” Manage the expectations of his adoring fans. 🙂
Thanks for the link. I will be happy to be able to move on to Douluo Dalu 2 and 3. By the time I finish 3, the 4th one might be out then. While these people would still be reading Duoluo Dalu 1 waiting for the 1 release every month.
I got used to get a chapter per week! Those are my little treats, late in a Sunday evening! And consider the length of one chapter, it is 4 times the work in comparison to other light novel translation post! Bagelson keep up the good work.
I like that “slow” pace actually, not that I would call one chapter per week slow lol one per month would be slow for me XD once a week just adds to my small rutine
The translation there really isn’t that bad. Not as good as Bagel-San but very readable none the less. I’m going to finish reading on wuxiadream but I will still be checking here to read bagel-san’s work as I’ve been reading this for years with his translations.
Not Bad you are right. But I thought it was very hard to follow some Action, and some scenes.
Dunno if thats bad Quality or if I´m just used to Bagelsons style. Anyhow. I agree with Trilint.
And who doesnt want to wait, its not that hard to Google find it.
I still count it as a translation (not for myself) because some people still read bad and machine translations. No matter how good or bad the translation is, I find it rude to the translator if someone links another site in their comment section. 🙂
I guess find it rude to the readers if the translator doesn’t even say a few words when he’s going to take some time off. I’m sure you guys have read other translated novels; from what I’ve seen, most translators, free or not, seem to do that much. I’m not saying that Bagelson has to. It’s his thing so he can do what he wants. But if he’s not going to stand on politeness, why do we have to?
Nobody’s upset with Bagelson for the things he does well. They’re upset with him for the things he doesn’t do well. Bagelson definitely has good translation skills, but there’s more to being a good translator than just that. I’ve been following this translation for years, like many people, I’m sure. I’m thankful to him for doing all this for free, but he’s been undeniably unreliable. He changes his release schedule on a whim, sometimes disappears for weeks, and rarely communicates with his readers. He’s built up a small community here of people who are mostly loyal and constantly praising him, but he doesn’t seem to show them much appreciation. Somehow we’re not supposed to complain because it’s impolite, but Bagelson isn’t particularly polite. It’s no surprise that people here get frustrated. I’m thankful to him because he allows me to read a good translation of one of my favorite novels, but I can’t help but think I would’ve been happier if a different, more reliable, high quality translator had picked this up and instead. I probably won’t read anything else he translates after this.
Why? Do I owe Bagelson some kind of loyalty for some reason? I’ve never heard him ask for it, nor do I really think he cares. Bagelson’s a good translator, and I fully understand why you might choose to support him. But personally I prefer a steady release schedule, and there’s lots of good translators out there more reliable than him. What’s wrong with acknowledging that if it’s true?
I don’t see how it is. Far as I can tell, Bagelson’s not worried about pleasing people. He does things how he does things and doesn’t ask us to like it. There’s nothing wrong with that, just like there’s nothing wrong or sad about any of us preferring a different style of translator.
So I’m definitely not going to read the wuxiadream translations because they make my head hurt and bagelsons writing makes it feel as though I’m reading a real story. However, what gets me about this is the lack of simple communication. Just a simple “sorry I won’t be posting this week” would go a long way, instead we’re left wondering if he’s even going to continue translating. I can’t imagine feeling so little for my audience that I couldn’t do a simple update on delays or timing, especially with the love that we all shower him with on every post.

Back to a chapter a week now that you fucked up wuxiadream, glad to know you’ve stopped pillaging someone else’s hard work. Not even work waiting on this shit paced story anymore. Good job killing perfectly good wuxia bagelson.
Idk why people compliment you always even though all I’ve seen is someone who should just stop making up fake rules on translation and give it up already
Retard, just don’t comment if your going to be a jerk. Seriously, what are u a child throwing a tantrum. As far as I saw it wuxiadream took bagels own translations that he personally did and put it on their site, saying it was theirs, not even asking him if it was okay to do so. Does copyright infringement mean anything to you. As far as bagels own translations until and unless he receives a cease and desist notice from the author or whoever holds the publishing and\or translation rights to Douluo Dalu he can do whatever he wishes with HIS OWN PERSONALLY TRANSLATED WORKS OF DOULUO DALU.
Just read the manga. You all know why you started reading the novel — because the manga was too slow. Now that the manga has caught up, go back to reading the manga. I don’t get why you people feel so invested in bagelcrap. This isn’t even his novel to begin with. He is just freeloading from the author and thinking he is all high and mighty. He doesn’t want to finish the novel because after the novel is done, people wouldn’t give a 2 cents shit about him.
Seriously are ur brain only but crap and mud haters (especially Lolzaurzzz)? First, the manga didn’t caught up at all. Second, even if it’s not his novel, he’s tranlating it with a fairly good english and for… how many? oh yes… for FREE.
What are you complaining for? When was he “all high and mighty” ever once? The only thing we could reproach him is his lack of communication, to say why he can’t upload a chapter or how long it’ll take for him to upload it. THAT’S FCKIN ALL!
You dumbasses haters are crying but still coming on his website to see his tranlations, but since u’re kind of junkies from his good work u can’t stand a late of a few days or a week. And you don’t even see it ahaha!
Then now stop complaining, if you can’t wait to see the end of this story just go on machine translation website like the one above and if it’s not enough, go read something else but don’t insult the translator or his work.
Just for information, He said a few weeks ago that he’ll finish this novel, and he’s gonna do it, be patient.
He’s (probably) translating it for free so he doesn’t have to commit to a schedule, and can thus disappear when he doesn’t feel like translating or is too busy.
With that said, I’ve seen several sites that do donation translations, work full time jobs, and still get 3-7 chapters out a week. Plus whatever bonus/donation limit they set for extra chapters.
However, those are generally 2-3k word works, and DD1 seems to be more like 5-6k words, and he’s doing all the editing and translating himself. So one chapter a week is reasonable.
It’d still be nice to know that there isn’t going to be a chapter one week, though.
In before people say to be grateful for what we get, I’m sure there are plenty of teams who would take up translating that are just as good at the job. Obviously it’s something he’s worked on for a long time, and you don’t want to give up work like that. But when you can’t dedicate time to doing something like you used to, you don’t hang on to it.
Other groups aren’t going to take it out of respect unless he gives it over, but he doesn’t seem to want to give it over because it’s a hobby he enjoys. Even if he said for a group to go ahead and work on it, and he would still translate it at his pace, they wouldn’t take it.
It’s a rock and a hard place, to be honest.
I lost track of where I was going with this, as well. Cheers.
Maybe people aren’t reading the manga because they don’t like it? It’s not as if the novel and the manga were identical.
(And it’s not as if the manga scanlatians weren’t doing exactly the same thing as this translations… they are all unlicensed internet translations.)
The Douluo Dalu manga\manhua is a bit too cartoonist and leaves out alot of good\interesting details and parts to it. While I appreciate the visual as the manga 1st introduced me to Douluo Dalu compared to the manga for DD2, DD2.5, & DD3; DD1 is seriously lacking. Anyways thanks for the chapter bagel, hope you post another soon, cause it’s now July and no chapter since June 18th is a little worrying, so I hope everything is alright.
These wuxiadream owners are hilarious hahah. They’re making clones and posting multiple comments trying to sh*t on how bagelson is bilingual when their shameless advertising of their (machine) translation site can’t even compare. Honestly disappointed in how someone could just try to steal an ongoing translation and then start flaming him on his own translation in how he stole from their (machine.. -_-) translation and even goes to the point where death threats are being sent to bagelson and his readers. It’s laughable at how their attempt to discredit bagelson is so pitiful and that they’re trying so hard. Sure it’s slow and he sometimes misses a release or two, but he really does release high quality translations of a great novel! I have plenty of other novels to read while I wait for his so it’s not bad at all!
For those wondering, there is nothing illegal about translating a novel. Nor is it illegal to translate a novel someone else is. Anyone could start translating DD1 and he can’t do anything about it. It’s more of a respect and honor thing to not do that. None of them are the actual owners of DD1 afterall.
Steal as in wuxiadream was taking Bagelson’s translations and putting them on their website while claiming them as there own. They eventually took them down but still.
This is mad yo, this guy is making us wait like this in agony. I just hope he surprises us with multiple chapters after this. I mean not to be ungrateful but things were getting really interesting and I’m just itching from anticipation
I really do hope he’s alright but at the same time. I would have thought the a notification of a break would be common courtesy. He doesn’t have to explain himself but just give is a heads up so we aren’t so expectant and wound up lool
What’s with all the hate. This is my first time posting a comment but I just had too. Can’t we just appreciate bagelson for all his work. He does do it for free. And if that’s what bugging you out, go do machine translating. As far as not giving an explaination on weeks without any chapters, give him a break. People have a life too.
As for me. Thanks for all the hard work on translating Bagelson. Even if it’s just one more person, we really appreciate all you have done for this novel. (And any helpers too)
No one cares if he does it for free or not. People want steady releases and people are more than happy to do patreon or something. Calling it a hobby and hanging on to it when you can’t even do it — is almost silly as you expect other translators to give you face and you expect readers to shower him with praise because he is doing it for free. Well, I call that bullshit.
So, probably just me, but, anyone else mad that the soldier ants are male? Guys, check your ant facts, like most communal insects (bees termites ants) the majority of the colony is sterile females, so, sisters, not brothers ^^
haha. very good novel. If you want to be ahead of the game go to freewebnovel they have already copied and paste most of the novels already. bluesilver is late in the game. nin~
Thank you!

Guys just leave this site now. Bagelson is shit and he thinks he is the only one that can translate so he is taking a snail pace on this with an excuse as this is a hobby. Other sites was showing face to him as he has been doing this for a while, but the PEOPLE had enough with this snail pace. Ready this here instead so you do not have to wait a snail pace.

be that as it may, his unreliable release dates are a pain in the ass. there a re alot of people who would pay for a more stable release than that, and that is from a viepoint of a few years, basically since he started translating this novel. a patreon account is set up pretty fast, and for 100 bucks or more per chapter it would certainly be more effective than that “it’s a hobby crap”

How incredibly generous of you to offer to set up the Patreon account, find a Mandarin English translator of such high quality, pay said translator 100 bucks a chapter and then share the releases for the world to enjoy.
We wait with bated breath.

LikeLike
LikeLiked by 4 people
Or, to put it more succinctly: if you want to feel righteous about professional translators making money then please stop reading internet translations altogether, okay? After all, asking for money for an unlicensed translation would be illegal in some countries, you know?

You guys Realise that WuxiaDream (Linked above) already Finished DD1?
I´ve read it there, and I still come Back here, because the Quality of the Translation is much better.
Basically, I used WuxiaDream to relieve my Addiction, and I come here for actual Enjoyment.
Also, Bagelson already stated when WuxiaDream picked it up, that he still intends to finnish it, … in his own pace. And thats OK.

I’m sure you guys have read other translated novels; from what I’ve seen, most translators, free or not, seem to do that much. I’m not saying that Bagelson has to.

Love,

Cheers.
