  1. I love this chapter, it was so bittersweet particularly during Grandmaster’s final moment where he just wanted to hear Tang San calls him ‘father’ again. Should have ended here. The double climaxes the author was trying to build really backfired. I just think Bibi Dong made her entrance too late. She was always the highlight of the antagonist side. The author paints her as the number 1 nemesis of Tang San but she only gets to show her real strength in the last few chapters. It really doesn’t do her justice.

This is where the author sidetracked by bringing in Qian Renxue and focus on her too much. Her countless battles with Tang San just got tiring after a while. Just because she has this unhealthy obsession over the MC, the author spared her over and over again hoping to diffuse some romantic fissures and entanglement with the MC but they had nothing to start off with. Hu Liena would have been a better candidate if only the author had developed her character and her arc a bit more.

This twist with Xiao Wu and the Asura God really flop big time. How could she even endure Asura’s overwhelming power inside her, even if it wasn’t meant for her. You have to be a god to be able to receive divine power, that was what this story was harping about 99% of the time— to upgrade your skills by training your endurance. That was why you have 10 levels between each spirit ring, so that you can build your strength slowly. That was also why Tang San had to train to the pinnacle level before adding rings to his second spirit and why he went through hellish trainings from his dad as well as those semi-sadistic seagod trials. But no, the author decided to give that 1% illogicality to Xiao Wu. Sorry, what I’m commenting will be considered spoilers but I doubt any of the DD or even Bagel’s fans really waited that long without finishing the story elsewhere.

Being a follower of DD from the beginning, TJSS has impressed me with his ingenious concept of power and abilities: the whole thing with this spirit rings and soul power. He spent 90% of the story building up Tang San and for whatever reason, he had to rush through the ending and condensed it in the last few chapters. What a shame!
